Hey Everyone! :) I'm glad you haven't forgotten about it.

    Good news and Bad news

    Bad News:
I have been working and trying to get our original choice of venue, but it has been like trying to push a rope up a hill, in the rain, with allergies, and the rope isn't there. They're positive, but we've never been able to meet to actually work out the details. I've also been having second thoughts about that location because they don't have an area that we would be able have people talk except a room in the very back that is down the hall and around the corner from where we might be able to set up a couple of tables for projects. I think that this would be an issue because being able to set at your table (or at least keep an eye on it) and hear the speaker has always been a big pulse. Parking would have been an issue too...

    Good News:
We have a couple of leads at some of the more "normal" conference locations that we're following up on and narrowing down the date to August 2 or August 9th. The cost would be $25 and that would include lunch. I would really like to know before I put down the non-refundable deposit later this week or next if there are at least 10 people would be able to come on those days and pay $25 each. (you can email or PM me) The reason is that we're talking about $500 or more to rent a ~40 person room and I don't really want to just be sitting in it by myself all day. :)

If you're interested in helping organize it and/ or willing to spread some of the financial risk around please send me an Email. I know that there were a few people who said that they would be able to help but that was a few months ago and things might have changed. I could really use 5 people to be the "go to" support on the day of to help take care of anything that might popup

    Areas to help:
-Setting up and managing ticket sales online
-PR stuff, getting the word out
-Boston local(s) to create list of areas of interest and activities going on in Boston that non attending family members might enjoy doing or shopping
-Setting up and managing ticket sales at the door
    -Setting up day of
    -Tear down
    -Speaking schedule
    -food pickup
    -Anything else that I'm forgetting

Last thing, if there is something that you would really like to see happen at this convention, let me know and I'll put you in charge of it (figure 8 contest?). :)

This is going to be really great, especially if you've never had the opportunity to attend an Expo. I think I've been to 5 or 6 and they always inspire me.

I can attend on either date. I sent you a PM with my contact info. I can help with many of the tasks you listed, and can absorb some of the $$ risk. I could also do a presentation at the expo.

Based on what you described, I share your concern about the original choice of venue.

    Thanks for pursuing this!

The Newport Jazz Festival is the weekend of August 2nd so I won't be able to attend that week. I'll try to come if it is the 9th.

The 2nd will also be a no-go for me. The 9th is open.

As long as we don't clash with defcon or skydogcon I should be able to make it. Wife had friends in Boston so should be an easy sell.

Btw, I'm on a plane on a runway at Boston Logan as we speak :-)

If we're far enough ahead in the skydogcon badge design I might try and bring a few for people to see.
