My best thought today was to use my e-cigarette more often. Trying to quit smoking. Only my e-cig has a horrible taste and the vapor is garbage. So my next best thought was, "Return the product."
As it is Friday here in NZ and I have had production meetings for two different productions and will have to work all through the weekend my first thought for the day was "Woohoo - Almost Tuesday!"
Tomato - home grown, ripened on vine until ready to pick (most people pick too early), pick it, wash it off, eat it. It IS a fruit afterall!!
Maybe we can agree (or at least discuss) over a pint of stout/ale/cider/mead?
Now you're talking my kind of tomato. Great right off the vine, and fantastic on a hamburger served on a fresh kaiser roll, garnished with swiss cheese, onion, hot peppers and mustard.
I like my bacon to come in big slices cooked to almost crispy.
You really don't want to see how my Heinz Baked Beans look after I have boiled them down to their essentials!
Couple of fried eggs on the side, some tomato slices (fried in oil a bit) cover it all in salt and ground black pepper and we are in business.
"maple syrup, brown sugar" on beans, gak. No wonder the USA is famous for obesity!
@Heater........
Well, I actually went across town today for a bacon and eggs breakfast at the only reasonable place in Kaohsiung to get one... just because of you.
I really don't want to look at any canned baked beans... they are disgusting. If you are going to buy beans in a can, at least buy refried beans. They even go well with bacon and eggs... add some jalapenos.
So I ordered a bacon and eggs with a latte. But what arrived was a HAM and eggs. I check the wrong box in the Chinese order slip.
I love tomato ketchup (Heinz) on my chips and burgers.
I love tomato puree on my pizzas.
And so on.
But a raw uncooked tomato, all cold and slimy, no way.
It's just part of my salad allergy I guess:)
If you are surrounded by homegrown tomatoes, does that include Black Krim or Chocolate Cherry varieties? Ripe off the vine and hot from the summer sun, these taste rich like sun-dried tomatoes or tomato sauce, only better. And I HATED fresh tomatoes for decades until I grew these myself. I had to literally brace myself to try them at first, but I love them now. (I still hate cold slimy grocery store tomatoes though.)
Time to take out the tomato vines and plant peas - now that's a nice thing to think about.
I'm not growing them so I have no idea but they look pretty normal. But now you have got me going, I didn't realize there were so many varieties of tomatoes you could get hold of. For example: http://seedrack.com/tomato.html?gclid=CICapsDL_7kCFcxF3godigwAuQ
Looks like the Black Price from Siberia might be the thing to grow around here.
It's nice to grow things you don't see in the shops every day.

Just so happens that I am surrounded by home grow tomatoes. Does not work for me. Ah well.
I would love to share some pints of stout/ale/cider/mead with you.
