What was your best thought today?

I'll start this off.
No time for P1 or P2 for the last two days.
Today on I-39, I saw a sign, "It is illegal to text and drive." I note that it remains perfectly legal to merge onto an interstate, with a two year old throwing sippy bottles at your head (from the comfort of his mandated child-safety seat). If we must travel on public highways with two years olds, we should be required to drive either a retired taxicab or a squad car… everything else is just irresponsible. I suppose that a "handler" in the back seat would suffice... but not today:)
Illuminate us... what is your best thought of the day?

WASH THE DOG.
I realize that is not too profound, but the dog is happy. Maybe something else will come along as the day progresses.. maybe not.

Imagine working for JPL's Near Earth Objects Collision Tracking Group and getting furloughed the day before....oh,never mind, I'm off the clock.
Hey, everybody have a great day!!
After you mention bacon, what else is there? Besides what to have with the bacon. But even that is only a pale second...
For this one, I think the answer is, "Go to bed."
The latter being the best invention to come out of the USA ever.
My best thought today was "whoopee only 5 minutes till hometime"
I always thought the best thing with bacon was...more bacon.

Speaking of which it will soon be time for breakfast again around here. Hmm.. Bacon.
Anything can be improved with bacon. Heater has demonstrate that by adding those disgusting Heinz baked beans.
@Heater
Have you ever heard of Beano?
How sad, if these are your touchstone for baked beans, then you've never truly had the best that a baked bean has to offer.
You could make a culinary tour of American and her baked beans!
(The Key Lime Pie Tour of the Florida Keys is something I've done and should arrange as a tour package with some visionary travel agent)

However the problem is that around here supermarkets will sell you all kind of brands of canned baked beans and they are much worse! You actually have to go out of your way to find Heinz Baked Beans.
On the other hand can I trust what yo say? For example a McDonald's Big Mac is nothing like anything I recognize as a hamburger (or even food for that matter) But I'm told that "back home" that is a hamburger just the same.
I can't tell you what the thought of baked beans and Big Macs is doing to my very unsettled stomach:)
I don't consider McDonald's hamburgers to be an accurate representation of the species.
When I make a hamburger at home (cheese optional), it looks something like this (best image I could find on web):
Baked beans should be something like this:
(yes, that would be bacon and other yummy things in there).
NEVER, EVER like this:
At a bare minimum, any canned baked bean needs to have some doctoring - add some combination of maple syrup, brown sugar, ketchup (or catsup), barbecue sauce and any seasonings you may enjoy (garlic, cayenne, onion powder, etc.) you can also add chopped onion, chopper green/red pepper, crumbled bacon, etc. At this point, you need to cook the beans down to reduce the sauce to an acceptable thickness. Yes, it's a bit of work but it is worth it.
To finish it off, key lime pie should look like this:
Oooops!
(PS, you can trust me on food!)
Sometime things don't look so good once we hit submit...

I like my bacon to come in big slices cooked to almost crispy.
You really don't want to see how my Heinz Baked Beans look after I have boiled them down to their essentials!
Couple of fried eggs on the side, some tomato slices (fried in oil a bit) cover it all in salt and ground black pepper and we are in business.
"maple syrup, brown sugar" on beans, gak. No wonder the USA is famous for obesity!
At least you've got the bacon part right!!
Some molasses never hurts either.
We used to have these really cool "Big John's Beans 'N Fixin's" that came as two cans that you mixed together, very tasty.
Just to do my American duty and eat a rather unhealthy diet I use baked beans as a dip for potato chips...

I love tomato ketchup (Heinz) on my chips and burgers.
I love tomato puree on my pizzas.
And so on.
But a raw uncooked tomato, all cold and slimy, no way.
It's just part of my salad allergy I guess:)
Tomato - home grown, ripened on vine until ready to pick (most people pick too early), pick it, wash it off, eat it. It IS a fruit afterall!!
Maybe we can agree (or at least discuss) over a pint of stout/ale/cider/mead?
