I took a risk, a small risk, of $150, to get a thermal camera. At the time, the next cheapest option was $2,500 FLIR.
Now, I have IN MY HAND a Seek Thermal, which cost $299. So even though I spend $450, I save $2100.
The Seek Thermal and the $350 FLIR offering WOULD NOT EXIST TODAY if we did not back this project.
I laid down my money, and took my chance, and the unit, which did not exist previously, exists now. And YOU can benefit from my investment.
The only down side is the Mu folks struggled for a year, and got a good deal of Smile for all their hard work. These guys spent all this time and energy, and failed, and all the noisy hecklers do it kick them when they are down. To those folks, I say "You sir, have no soul".
It would be great if every project always enjoyed complete success. But it don't work that way and we should HONOR those that try anyway, and fail.
Flir E4 can be bought for less than $1000, and it can be hacked to became Flir E8 ($5999), with 320x240 resoltion, video recording and so on. Have no idea where you got $2500 price tag.

>I can't confirm when, or if, we'll make it to production. It would only be fair to say that, baring a miracle, that we are shutting down operations.
>Again, we've not completely thrown in the towel, but it is unlikely we will be able to continue as a company.

Seems like a capable and likeable chap.
Just type "Flir One" into your favorite search engine.
