Lots of 120 line codewheels

I have a LOT of 120 line codewheels that I want to sell or trade for microcontroller bits. I am a mechanical guy who is trying to learn how to use microcontollers for industrial automation. I have a Propeller Education Kit, power supply, breadboard, and a scope. But not much else....

These are unused NOS aluminum reflective style self-adhesive codewheels. They were originally intended to be stuck onto R4 size bearings (.250 id x .625 od) but can be stuck directly onto a wheel. I was lucky emough to get a copy of the spec sheet with these, so you can see exaclty how these are made.

If you have a group or club that can use some of these I will donate up to 50 pcs to each group that asks. If parallax can use some I can send a few hundred if you want.

I also have quite a bit of motion control components (bearings, leadscrews, etc) that are taking up FAR too much room in my garage. jus' sayin...

Well, I presume that the dimensions are inches and that there are 120 lines in one complete rotation.

It looks like they are either .5 inches across or 1.0 inches across. Some clarification would be helpful. And I am curious what you might expect for a dozen sent to Taiwan. Would one unused 40 pin DIP Propeller be an adequate trade?

Are you primarily interested in BasicStamp items or Propeller items.

I'd have to build my own quadriture sensor to make good use out of these, but I thing a pair of CNY70 sensors can do the trick.

Yes, the dimensions are in inches. ID is .380", OD is .580" and the line count is 120 per rev.
I am mostly interested in the Propeller and appropriate accesories, sensors, etc, but I wouldn't mind BasicStamp stuff either.

I think a dozen for a Prop sounds like a fair trade. Do you have an idea of what is the best way to ship to Taiwan?

    Hi,
I seems to me that using First Class US Post is quite adequate for these as they are small, flat, printed material that easily fit into a letter formal.... International Air Mail. I can pretty much do something similar for the Propeller in exchange.

I guess we should shift to Private Messages to exchange further details... addresses and any other questions or concerns.

These are a little small for having to build my own sensor, but worth a try. I will use the CNY70 sensors in pairs that are 90 degrees apart to attempt to get quadrature encoding.

    Cheers.

Loopey, Your codewheels will go out today. Is anyone else interested? I would prefer trading amongst the people here, but If not I will put them on Ebay

That's an interesting idea, I didn't know that existed. However I much prefer bartering, you never know what cool bit someone has until they offer it up in trade.

I have to admit I am a surplus addict... I go to surplus stores and buy cool stuff that I *need* because I may use it eventually. However, at some point even I have to admit I dont need 2000 leadscrews, 5000 bearings or 1000 codewheels. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

I can barely get into my garage and I need to make room for more projects
