Ok, I know by Tracking numbers that a bunch of these have been received! What interesting things are going on with these?

This is an item simply too cool to just set sit on your desk and hide behind your postage stamps. ;)

Is anyone making progress with this?
Will Jeff do another buy soon or is that waiting on code/circuit proveout?

I'm dead in the water for the time being.
Just this evening I was connected and "playing" with the configuration settings from an IPAD.
I think I set it to STA mode and GPIO2.
Now I can't even get in using AT commands from a wired serial terminal.

I see it has a RELOAD pin. That may be what I need to use.
Anyone tried that pin? If so, what is the procedure?

I managed to do that once myself. I was able to get in easily by connecting to it's web interface and making the switch there.

It looks similar.. I do see a few differences, (outside of the antenna).

I'll tell you what.. I've gotten three requests to do another Bulkbuy on these. I've stalled putting these into standard inventory, as I've been a little concerned that most of the people who want them have now got them, and didn't want to just see them sitting on the shelf wasting resources which could be invested in other places.

I'll setup another Bulkbuy for these on Monday and we'll see if there is enough interest to get another batch.

So, I was curious and decapped mine to see what the processor was. Unfortunately, the top of the chip has been scrubbed off, so there's no part number to read. It is, however, some sort of BGA. The chip on the bottom is 16MB (32? I can't remember) of RAM. Beyond that...

Easy for you perhaps. I don't seem to be able to do what you did.
Web interface, you say. So a browser?
That's what I was in when I caused by problem. No dice since.

How do I connect to it when it is in STA mode? PuTTY, Telnet?

    Thanks for your help.

well -in STA ode you can not connect to it, it can connect to some other AP and then webserver/mailserver or whatever.

STA mode is a client not a server.

You can either use serial and AT codes to connect too, or use the reload pin (sort of reset to factory settngs) by pulling low for a second and then pull high again

    Enjoy!

I know this thread is a bit old. Does anyone by chance have an actual picture of the serial to wi fi device? I know I bought one and can not for the life of me figure out where I put it. I need a picture so I can show my wife just in case she did something with it. On occasion she tries to help me out by cleaning my office. HUGE mistake as I can never find anything after that!!!!

EDIT: Found it. Now to try and get it working!

I saw one lurking around my workshop this weekend. I'll try and capture a picture of it tomorrow if I can remember where I put it for safe keeping!

So has anyone actually done anything exciting or of real value with these? I would like to hear about it so I know I did not waste my money on it just to have it sitting in a plastic drawer!!!

I'm pretty sure I bought one (or two), but haven't done anything with them. I'm fairly certain I know where they are, though!

I'd be interested in anything posted about them.

Here's a link to an old thread on OBC's Propellerpowered site: How to use those serial/wifi modules

Unfortunately, the link to the manual that he provides is no longer valid. Maybe he would have a copy stashed on a computer somewhere?

You can always go to the manufacturer's website: http://www.usriot.com/Product/27.html

I have the manual in my iBooks on my iPad. If I can figure out how to get it out, I will send it to you.

I know this is an older thread but I am awaiting the arrival of my ESP8266's that I thought I had but they were actually the Nordic transceivers. So, I have one of these that I purchased from OBC some time ago. I am able to connect to the wireless network and am just wondering if anyone has done anything interesting with them. I am just looking for some ideas other than just lighting up an LED!!!!
