The silence from Parallax is deafening and curious. No word on the hats I sent Ken last week. Better order your own, DrPop, I did the legwork already. Quick turnaround time from that Ebay seller, and I paid the setup charge. Give extra hats to the judges!

GREAT idea on the hats to the Science Fair "judges" lol. :D Is there any way I can use the same layout you did and not have to pay the setup charge again? How would I go about asking him for that? I better get on it quick if I want to get them here in time. Luckily I'm up in Ventura, so shouldn't take that long to ship them from him (L.A.) up here - probably less than 90 miles away? Thanks for the help! :)

Contact the Ebay seller (Eugene at Cap City) at 323-508-0134 and tell him you want to use Eric's Parallax logo from mid-December, he shouldn't charge the $12 setup fee. He did my khaki hats with black letters which looked nice IMO but he has lots of other colors to pick from. I liked these since the hat had some contrasting black detail already. He did my order in about 4 days, over a weekend.

The logo I used came from the Parallax website. If I did it again I would include the "Equip Your Genius" part. I did not inquire about 2 colors. If that's not much more I'd do "Equip Your Genius" in a contrasting color.

If he charges you a setup fee anyway, then modify the logo and add your daughter's name and project. Why not? You can use any graphic program, even Microsoft Paint.

I will definitely use this vendor again. I'm doing some projects with Rolling Robots as of today and they need hats too!

Thanks, I'll get in contact with him, and see what he says. I understand if he has to charge the setup fee because I'm a different customer, but if he doesn't I'll make it easy for him and ask for the same exact hats he made you.

If he does charge the setup fee, then I'll try to add the "Equip your Genius" part below. :)

You need to get out of there, man, and move north!

Well, okay, P.T. has its sketchy areas, too. There are places in town where the deer herds cast a menacing gaze if you attempt to interrupt their foraging. However frightening such encounters can be, most people come out okay if they keep their heads down and avoid eye contact. But now, with commercial weed cultivation being legal in WA, it's hard to say what those four-legged gang bangers might do if they get into the stuff.

Doesn't sound so bad. I suppose my PT Snoozer would fit right in in PT. :)

After a long absence from the office, I returned to a surprise today - a box of hats! We weren't really quite sure what to do with them, so we put them on our heads and activated Daniel's 100W LED (32V @30A).

    Hmm...ah... Ken, 32V x 30A is 960W. Ultra low efficiency or miscalculation?

Hey erco! The team was most appreciative of the hats. We took a bunch of photos with them, including one with the 100W LED on top and another with an ELEV-8 Super mounted. It was a fun morning when we opened up the box! I'd post more photos here but the forum picture posting capability is really screwed up and IT Guy is trying to fix it.

So, will we carry hats? I don't know yet - it's one of those issues internally where we're certain that one hat won't work for everybody - it's too big, too small, not the right color, etc but we're not sure just yet.

We will keep this issue open for a bit and report back.

I must say, these hats are of fine quality!

Just like the Seattle Seahawks, Cincinnati Reds, and the University of Michigan, you have to OWN the colors, man! What ARE the Parallax colors, anyway? Once you decide and make it part of your brand, nobody can complain that their hat is the wrong color! I mean, who would dare ask for an orange and black Seahawks cap? (As to sizing, that's what that little plastic strap on the back is for -- unless, of course, it's a REALLY nice hat sold by head size.)

C'mon, Henry Ford said, "Any color, as long as it's black."

Ken, per PhiPi, pick a color and own it. Sell a $4 hat for $10+. That's like printing money. That's some sweet action.

Better yet, let Jen J. be the Color Czar and go with whatever SHE chooses. That will avoid endless meetings, and I trust her taste in things aesthetic.

It looks like you knew exactly what to do with the hats. Staff cohesion, smiles, LEDs, hats, excellent.

Don't wait, DrPop. It doesn't sound like there is much interest in hats. There are only 5,700 views to this thread.

erco, I need 50x more of these hats. They've all been taken and now people are asking for them.

Can I PayPal you for a big box of them? I don't have much time to deal with new suppliers, purchase orders, etc and need the lazy way out.

    Thanks,

    Ken Gracey

Phil, you actually think we'd host a "meeting" over a hat? Not a chance! Come on, you know us better than that. Our meetings are desk walk-bys, FaceTime and Skype.

Now, about Jen and the hats. Jen is certain that we can't make many people happy with a single size and color, so I'm not sure they're destined for our store. But if they're FREE, nobody can complain. That's why I want to get a big box of them.

Go for 60 since they come in dozens. Let me contact Eugene and see what he can do. Same color?

By the time I get back to you, I suspect you may want 120. Sixty hats will go pretty quickly once the word gets out.

If not a real meeting, hopefully the issue has at least generated some water cooler "hat chat". :)

Colors? You're asking me about colors? This is where we all get stuck.

How about three dozen blue, three dozen tan, like you sent us. Blue ones would have white logo.

Once we have them, I'll figure out how to distribute them without making them a for-sale, stocked item.

I'd order one - at least. It is all I can do to keep from ordering one of the Activity Bot Educational banners!

Ken: If you want to include a handful of my capacitors with each Parallax order mailed, just say the word. I'll throw the caps in with the caps.
