Thanks Amanda and Whit for your well wishes! Now, as for TFOTTPB...seems the vBulletin Groups options are way too restrictive. You can't have attachments and that is a deal-breaker, SO...I have re-created TFOTTPB on the Savage///Circuits Forums as a completely open forum this time. You don't need to request access, read messages, etc. however you do have to be a member of the Savage///Circuits website to post.
But wait! There's more! Everyone has been patiently waiting for the log book from the Q4 - 2012 box to be posted and this weekend I finally got it all scanned, rotated, fixed and into a color PDF file, attached in the following thread: http://www.savagecircuits.com/showthread.php?90-Q4-2012-Travel-Plan-(Archive)
Sorry for all the changes. When everything was corrupted on my site I was going to move it here where more people could easily join and track it, however we'd need our own forum and the groups are too restrictive, not allowing attachments, etc.
While I enjoyed the first round of the Traveling parts box I think people should be limited to taking only one item out of the box.
By the time it got to me there was really only a few good things in there.
And that determened the Quality or value of the items i returned to the box.
While there were no hard rules about what to take it seems people took several "Nice" items during there turn.
Also I think when people contribute items to the box I think the should consider what use, value the parts have and the ammount of space they take up. Stuff like resistors, caps and things we can get locally (radio shack) really dont need to be sent accross the nation.
I know I complainning but I would of liked to have gotten some of the parallax stuff also.
If you've read the rules page you will notice I have addressed this some. But the fact is that I suspected this may be an issue which is why the box is going the other direction this time around. Hopefully that will even things out a little bit for those who were at the end of the list. A lot of what came back was development/evaluation kits for other microcontroller platforms. The kind of things you can often get for free, so I understand how you feel. And remember, TFOTTPB is still evolving. We can make changes to make thing better for everyone as we go. Feedback is always welcome, but you should also probably post it in the TFOTTPB forum so there is a history.
Everyone needs to sign up again if they haven't since all the notices I posted about the database corruption. The site had to be backed up, database removed and the software re-installed. There was no way to save user accounts. I posted about it in the general forums and here: http://www.savagecircuits.com/content.php
I wanted to handle it here via the groups and keep it on the Parallax site, but the groups are very limited in what you can do. I know it can be a hassle to have to have an account on another site you don't frequent...I had people tell me in the past they didn't participate in events because they didn't have time to go to yet another site.

I believe "Chris" tried to address your concerns, (before you even made your post).
Please see rule 8 and 9 for the "Summer 2013 TFOTTPB" listed below:
Rule 8:
Please take items from the box that you know you will make use of. The whole idea is to share stuff. This means not taking stuff from the box to sell or give away to someone else.
Rule 9:
Please put a similar amount of items back into the box before sending it on. It doesn't have to be the exact same number or value, but remember, we're sharing here.
Chris, Thanks for getting things going again, but I will sitting out this round - just to let you know!
Whit, your last reply said to count you in. Did you change your mind due to having to sign up on Savage///Circuits? That's okay, I am just wondering since you're not the first who replied to this thread saying you wanted in but hasn't signed up on my site. Just trying to get a feel for if having to login to another site is a setback for some.
Actually I would have rather been near the end of the trip than the beginning. The more interesting things seemed to show up around the middle of the trip. One of the FPGA devices would have been a choice but the box was long past me by that time. As to take one item, that is not realistic. How do you even know what was taken at each stop unless it is entered ? Should Chris arrange a proctor at each stop of the box.? Heck, it is the luck of the draw. While I would not call some stuff floor sweepins, some items probably were that from what I saw in the box early on. And going backwards the second time seems the best way to even out perceived grabbers anyway If some feel that way. I would like to think I added at least the value I took out of the box, but that was never stated as a rule of the box. It's all about integrity and perception of value. You would have to read and inventory the log to see what the balance was. I would have liked to see just what the final box contents were.........

I guess that going to your site is partially it. I'm more busy at work now - and did not want to hold up the box if it arrived here at an especially busy time. I tried logging in at your site snd couldn't remember my login either - over the course of the box's travels - I was worried I might not get the next address in a timely manner...

Well, I must admit I am sorry to hear that. Seems to be a theme among a select, but substantial group. The reason your login didn't work is that the website had to be completely re-installed and the account information could not be salvaged like the CMS data could. In a perfect world you wouldn't need to have to login to participate but spammers have made it so that even the registration process involves more now. At the same time I wanted to find out in advance who would be dropping out as keeping this going really depends on participation. Once enough people are too busy we'll have to rethink things as it takes time and effort to coordinate this. I hoped the effort from the participants would be minimal.
I would have liked to see just what the final box contents were.........FF
A few have asked me for this information, so what I will do is tonight try to get everything I can onto a table I have an see if I can get a halfway decent picture (or pictures) of the return contents. As far as any of it making its way back into the box? Well, most of it will not. I will be restocking the box with fresh items made up of mostly Parallax products, as usual. There are still items from the Savage///Circuits Vault that I could add as well and some things others have sent me for when we had the monthly giveaway.
Anyone else want to participate in the parts box this round? We're almost ready to launch and numbers are looking a bit low this time. Hard to believe after hearing how much fun everyone had the last time.
You're already signed up. I was hoping to see a few more names before creating the travel list. I will wait until Sunday and then the list is going up and the box is heading out.
Yep, as I said, the box is going out Monday, so if you want in and have not yet signed up, please do so now. If you've missed the details on signing up please scroll back through this thread.

Better refill that chill pill script if Chris sends the box anti-clockwise this time as he should.............The goodies seemed to get more interesting the farther the box travelled.
Okay, going out tomorrow. I wasn't in to work yesterday (didn't feel well) and I just got Ken's contribution for the box. So I will pack it up tonight and also take a picture of what was in it when it came back. Thanks for your patience!

Sorry to hear that Chris. Hope everything is going well!
