I need to start thinking in microcontroller terms I guess.
I've written programs for the Arduino, BS2, and Propeller chip. At first glance I thought the RAM on a BS2 was a non-starter. But it goes much farther than you would think for two reasons:
* PBasic allows bit and nibble variables and the state of I/O pins is often just off or on, so byte or word width variables are often overkill.
* PBasic is a domain specific language with keywords that equal whole C/C++ function calls on other MCU's. So one line of PBasic does not equal one line of C/C++ or Spin. This means PBasic isn't as slow as you would think either because the keywords are fast, you just need to avoid bit banging.
Overall I've found PBasic to be a low drama programming environment and easy to knock something together fast. My only criticism of the language is the incomplete support for signed arithmetic. The comparison operators and division are unsigned, while many other operators support signed arithmetic It's easy to work around once you know about it though.
Got my "Mystery Bag" today! I may not have ordered some of those things individually, but to get all them together, for such a small price was seriously cool! Well played Parallax... well played!!! Thank you!
May the next 25 years be better than the first!
Amanda Ward - Oh and again, thanks for the way fast delivery!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think they just ran out of stock. I know the free book and badge offer had ended when I ordered my second bag, but I was kind of disappointed not getting the book with the first one. It was one of the reasons I placed the order. Oh well, better luck next time

I did not get a book originally and had bought 2 bags during sale. PMd Jen J who said contact sales, problem solved. Great company, fast response!!!!!
I got it and the free Quadrover. In fact, Matt's riding the Quadrover down the 5 freeway for personal delivery, leaving Sunday. Chugging along at max speed, he should make it to LA just in time to get blocked by the Carmageddon freeway closure next Saturday. Bring a few water bottles, Matt. It's gonna be a loooooooooooooooong weekend!
So, With my original order I did not get the manual that others had received. I emailed the sales department and low and behold today a Priority Mail package showed up with the book enclosed. I would have been happy if they sent it Media Mail. Thanks so much Parallax for going above and beyond once again!!!!!
Yes. If you have any problem with an order, e-mail sales@parallax.com or call them toll-free at 888-512-1024 (Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PT). Have your order number ready.
I'll give it another week or so and then get in contact, Last time it took a while it ended being held at customs and I had to go collect it and pay fees.

I got two and neither came with the book! :-( Not a big deal since I already have one and don't need or really want a 2nd or 3rd.
It's been more than six weeks now and i'm resigned to the fact the parcel isn't going to arrive :frown:
Got in touch with sales but unfortunately they couldn't help and reminded me of the clause regarding international mail and no refunds, which is fair enough it's not Parallax's fault it went missing.
It just makes me a bit wary of ordering again which will be a pain as the UK dealers, apart from charging double the price and in pounds not dollars! they don't keep the full range of products hence why I have been ordering direct from Parallax.
Thanks Martin, more than anything I would have loved to have known what was in the bag
Skylight,
I won two bags from the trivia contest. I've been more than blessed by Parallax's generosity, so if you don't mind and are still interested, I'd be more than happy to share and send you one of the bags. I'm not sure what shipping will be but if it's crazy expensive, we can split it or something. Otherwise, I'll pick up the shipping. Let me pack one up in a box and see what the Post Office tells me.

Will we have to wait another 25 years for such a deal?
