Think and ELEV-8 and an HK mp5-PDW would do it?

I'd be much happier if the thing was less accurate and the guy got hit by friendly fire. All we need is a few of these flying around the 'hood and law and order is out the door.

You're in luck, this guy is in Georgia (USA) and isn't even Russian. I have no idea how he gets access to all this stuff. There's a video of him firing a mini gun, at who knows how many dollars a second.

I can only hope someday someone flies a real version of that at me. I'll take it out of the sky and keep it :)

He rents everything, except the copter, which has a fake gun on it.

Possession of a single round of ammunition in Taiwan is a felony, and I feel a bit safer. Though getting slashed with a sugar cane knife is another hazard.

For the few that don't know - that quad exists in digital form only.

The Parrot AR Drone? It's real alright, $300 of worthlessness real.

The guy gets paid to run his YouTube channel - Just look at his view count, it's higher than many television shows! He definitely has all the necessary paperwork for his show, so he gets access to all sorts of toys, just not necessarily for his personal collection. I'm pretty sure that's not the Parrot drone, without watching the video again (saw it a couple months ago), doesn't he say there's some astronomical price, like >$10K? Of course, it should probably cost less, but then again, this will be getting sold to the military.

Also, the guy is definitely American, just plays a Russian on TV :D. And if memory serves me correctly, then I think he's located in Illinois.

Are you saying that you think it is real?

Upon further analysis I can see it is CGI. I didn't really watch it long enough, or at the right resolution. I thought it was a modified Parrot AR with an airsoft on it. The thing I don't get is if it is CGI why they made the ammo feeder look so fake. Which leads me to believe there is a real one that doesn't fly, possibly just a static model for the ground shots.

I'm not a gun guy, but it seems like surprisingly little recoil on the quad as it's firing a machine gun in flight. I'd agree it's likely a good fake.

If that's CGI, then it blows away most movies. Look at the effect while it's flying through smoke - that looks pretty darn real. There might not be massive amounts of recoil, but it could also be shooting something small like a .22 calibre. I really don't think it's a fake. After all, it's not really doing anything significantly more amazing than many other quadrotors.

Read the fine print. It's an ad for the next big video game. The CGI is likely from this game engine.

Also, is Parallax now letting people post links to videos festooned with foul language?

I watched the whole thing and didn't hear any language unfamiliar to a ten-year-old -- well, at least to me when I was ten years old, out of earshot from my parents. :) On an obscenity scale from 1 to 10, I'd rate it a 2 at most. It's pretty benign, IMO.

The biggest thing that gives it away for me is the way the quad moves through the air. It's just not quite right. It wallows back and forth and side to side in exactly the same way that real quads don't. It also appears that whoever animated it thought that quads are controlled by tilting their propellers.

Second is the lack of debris being blown off the card table. In the first person view (probably taken from an actual Parrot AR drone) you see cards and things being blown around but not in the view where you see the quad.

The precision that it flies through the window and maintains position, all through an iPad control interface is not realistic.

The dummies on the hillside - immediately before firing the quad tilts forward - but does not move forward, defying the laws of physics.

Other little things like - no safety precautions whatsoever are taken, no credit to the builders and the intentional destruction of what would be an expensive piece of machinery.

I do agree that it is a very well done video.

I would like to point out, when I said it's real I only meant they had a copter with a fake gun on it that could fly around lol...

Since the modified upper of the weapon has no buffer spring sticking out the back the recoil would be insane. Unless, maybe they had some buffered mount on the copter to hold the weapon. It would also have to be some new primerless ammo that can roll down a bent tube haha.

Okay, I'm sure the FBI is reading this by now so goodnight everyone!

My thoughts exactly. M-16's, AR's etc. use a spring recoil in the butt stock which dramatically decreases the "kick". However, I see nothing that would support this on the weapon. Also, does anyone see any shells coming out of the weapon after firing??????

I say it's a fake CGI gun on a fake CGI copter.

Edited out of respect for the creator(s), "fake" is such a negative word.

But.... if it is 100% CGI, why doesn't the gun look more real? It looks too much like a real life Airsoft and flex tube hack job to be created from scratch on a computer by someone with any talent. Unless they did it on purpose to keep authorities from asking questions. I'm sure it could be 100% CGI and really just guessing. It just seems easier to throw together something to create the CGI model from. That copter looks really thrown together when you get to the weapon.

It seems quite real to me. The gun is mounted at a dropping angle that lessens the recoil by causing the quad to rotate against gravity rather than just slide horizontally.

The wallowing may be the result of software trying to keep in on target. Plus, there is a lot of mass that is swinging as a pendulum.

Still, I am sure the Secret Service and the AFT will take a significant dislike to this concept.

He SAYS he's a real Russian, and while Russians have been behind on VCR's and cable, we all know the Soviets are ALWAYS ahead on weapons. Just because they don't exist anymore doesn't guarantee they won't still shoot at us. So I'm going to build my OWN CGI machine gun quadcopter, just to be safe.

RE: foul language - Parallax cannot be held responsible for links other folks post, that would mean they claim responsibility for the content of the entire internet, which is ridiculous. A coworker once posted a link to an site where somebody outside the company posted something offensive, and was fired by HR. When the company realized that they were in effect holding the employee responsible for actions of people outside the company (basically everyone on the internet) they quietly fired the HR guy to prevent any lawsuit.

Not sure if he is from Georgia, Illinois or where, but I have NEVER seen saguaro cactus in either of those states!!!!! Also, After viewing this several times frame by frame, I still do not see any shells dropping to the ground after the weapon is fired.

Edit: Even more investigating. Notice when the weapon starts firing at 2:11 there is flash from the barrel. However, same weapon firing at 2:20 has no flash from the barrel. Definately a good mock up but not real.
