:D Pictures! Videos! Entertainment for one and all! :D

Of course we're excited! But not just because we're shipping a pot-load of *cool stuff* to Radio Shack. We're also excited that Radio Shack is making a real effort to get back into the DIY market! That means that, in reality, we’re shipping a pot-load of *cool stuff* to an access point for a whole new generation of DIYers.

Hopefully RS's move will help jump-start the current generation into thinking beyond the keyboard or touch screen. Rather than just being a generation of "users", they can experience the coolness of being "makers" too.

Yes, this thread is a Happy Celebration! We thought you might like to join in too :)

Much of the Crew had already gone (because they're exhausted!), by the time we shot this...
It's a little jittery, but you'll get the idea :)

    "What are shipping?"..."Stuff"
"How much Stuff?" "..."Over 40,000 Stuffs"

Boring, yet epic in its own way...

The RS pallets are loaded into the truck by David.

Coincidentally, the FedX truck that's pulling away at the beginning is carrying the first batch of about twenty Full-blown, production quality - Eddie's as well - destined for points all over N.America...!

Congratulations! After the desert of the 90's it is really wonderful to see suppliers stepping up for DIYers and enough people taking an interest in DIY to keep them in business. Of course Parallax was holding the candle almost single-handedly for some of that time.

    Cool stuff.

I was in Fry's a week or two ago and noticed a bunch of the shrink wraped Parallax stuff there.

This is Awesome! I'm sure the prices will be higher, but if I need a Parallax part fast, I can get them fast!

Do you guys have a list of which radio shack stores are getting this stuff?
    Thanks,

Awesome! My Radio Shack in town said they were expecting to get some of these items in stock soon. This is really good news, and hopefully will ignite the imagination for the next generation of DIY'ers.

    Thanks Parallax!

Nope, we don't. In fact, RS_Jim doesn't even know, and he works in one of the stores. I think it's probably up to corporate as to where the initial deployments will be.

In the first video, to the far right, is that a pegboard shelf that I see labeled 'Parallax'? and is that for the RS stores? BTW, I talked to my local RS's manager, he said that they were expecting a "major shipment" and would be "doing some reorganizing later this month". I think that Parallax parts may be in RS by the end of October!

I sure hope that truck makes it to its destination. I can just imagine the headlines now...

"DIYers wielding hot soldering irons hijack truck, get away with 40,000 stuffs."

Well in Australia we don't have Radio Shack....

We used to have Tandy Electronics, which got taken over by Dick Smith Electronics, which is part of a large supermarket chain. Now Dick Smith only sell consumer electronics, no hobbyist type stuff.....

    At least we have wholesalers....

    Hey Bomber!
Peg board was part of our Maker Faire Booth in NY.

Hopefully your RS will be one of the early "lucky ones"!

Sounds like you need to trade off that old Crown SC for one of the new AC forklifts.

icepuck: Good idea, but I think that Parallax should go after an Airtrax Sidewinder...

Glad to see all those "stuffs" getting shipped! I am still working on my project that uses 4 of the Parallax items that will be at Radio Shack. I will be starting a project thread this week

    Matt,

Don't feel bad. I bought stuff from their mail-order catalog before they were bought out by Tandy.

    Matt,

The starting line-up looks good, but the question is...

Are we going to have to wait for the Radio Shack roll out before we can order any of these items?

Will they hit the Parallax store at the same time?

I would like to get a new Gyro, Altimeter, and Compass module to put something together to show the RS people at my store.

All the other items I already have.

I know Andrew has an "in" and will be getting these items before the rest of us. :)

Old? If you remember the P-box kits then you may qualify for AARP.......

Wow, nice set of gear... several things that could come in handy for my current project, in fact.

I was pleased to see Forest Mims III books reprinted and available in the RS -- I stopped in today in hopes of seeing some of the stuffs. :)

'76 ... yeah a bit before I started :) My first visits were in the mid 80's.

Why do I picture these pallets arriving at RS to a scene like the end of "Raiders of The Lost Ark"? ....lost amid a sea of cell phones and consumer electronics.......

I'm thinking my Radio Shack experiences go back to '71/72 with a well used free battery card. Of course, being that old, I can't recall clearly!
