That looks really neat but it makes me wonder if all the misses were just edited out.

Compring to this just building a QuadCopter seems like a walk in the park...

Too bad that you have to be an IEEE member to see the math behind it. Looks like they maybe using a video camera to "see" the ball so that they can predict its flight. Humm, looks like a bit more math power than the propeller can muster! I did find his paper on the berkeley site! That certainly dovetails into the other thread about home automation. The math for the airconditioning control is not that onorous and could probably be done on a prop. With 10 to 15 minutes a lot of math could be performed even by the prop.

The sensor detecting the ball is in the quadcopter? A white ball against white walls? Or is it getting information about the ball's flight from elsewhere?

This kind of thing suggests that the future will look very little like the present. Very impressive.

It's using an array of cameras (mounted around the room) and a computer running all the calculations then sends control commands to the quadcopter.

I'm still impressed, but that explains quite a bit. Thanks.

I would think the Kinectix (hows it spelt) concept will cheapen this kind of thing. Lots of future for these cheap concepts.
    Anyway, I am impressed.
