    Piston engine aircraft did not need guage tappers because of the vibration caused by the engine. Now maybe the guage needs a vibration motor like used in a cell phone!

    I have always referred to the device in question as a "vacuum chamber", but vacuum reservoir causes a bit of a brain stumble, so it's funner.

    Sadly, this is one of the times when the forum search works all too well......put in 'laser' and 'pumpkin' and you'll find Ken relating different details of the same tragic tale in two different threads!

    Around Halloween someone decided to try using the laser on a pumpkin. It resulted in a multi-thousand dollar repair to fix/replace the optics and other things. Being a laser owner myself, I would be interested in the details as to what exactly caused the damage.

    Here's a video of laser carving a pumpkin, as a bonus they use an ingenious rotary fixture;

    This like an Eggbot on a LARGE scale! ...and it has a laser instead of a pen! Next Halloween, it could be time for PumpkinBot!!!

    Geeze, I wasn't even thinking about that incident when I mentioned a pumpkin,
    I really did want to see a vacuum formed plastic pumpkin for halloween...
    Sorry about that. :blush:

    Just goes to show you, Oh how the past will haunt.
    Even Charlie Brown always knew the Great Pumpkin would return every year...

    Well, I for one, will never mention pumpkins on this forum again, But..
    It was part of the UPEW guided tour of 2010,
    Maybe just don't tell the tale to groups, and specially if the group has me in it..:smile:

    I don't want vacuum formed vegetables anymore, I want plastic propeller beanies...

    Oh and an Automatic Anti Pressure\Pressure Gage Tapper-ing system too.

    A little early but there were no pumpkins harmed with a laser (or suction) in this photo...

    It was part of the UPEW guided tour of 2010,
    True TT, but "those who did it, know their shame" =) The battle cry around here is "no more gourds! no more gourds!"

    I'll not be goaded into gourd gossip.. I have sworn off of any mention of Cucurbitaceae of any size.
