Bill, I appreciate the kind words. RBB4 was a labor of love. I know I'll never recoup the time investment, but most children aren't profitable.
Anyone who feels so compelled, feel free to leave a positive review on Amazon and/or B&N (and Like it up, too!). Every little bit helps.
Matt, don't worry about Mr. McGraw (yes, there is a Mr. McGraw running the show -- a fifth or sixth generation, dating back to the 1880s or so). He makes more during lunch than I do in an entire month, if not the whole year.
Erco, your copy of RBB3 is worth $13.98 used, according to Amazon. Actually, that's not bad. A lot of older books sell for $0.02 plus shipping. That's not even their worth as kindling!
Gordon, I like the way you changed the walker and arm projects to use servos. They look much more approachable in terms of time and materials, plus RC servos are so easy to control with a microcontroller. I also like the printable templates for making servo brackets and encoder patterns on the companion web site. I've had to hunt all over the internet for that sort of thing before. Actually Erco hunted all over the internet and published links here, but I digress.
In any event I added my two bits to the Amazon reviews.
Supposedly it takes up to 4-6 weeks after the publication of the printed book for the e-book versions to come out, and it now beyond that. I keep harping on the publisher to get it done.
Another reason why very soon all my future books will be self-published, where I can have full control.
What? Don't have yours yet? Silly Roboteers, it's CHRISTMAS! Help Gordon fill his Christmas stocking with publishing revenue. Pull the trigger, it's an awesome book and resource.
Oh crikey! I just realized you are THAT Gordon McComb. I've had one of your older books sitting on my shelf for years but I never made the connection between your name and that book. What a hoot! I guess I've gotta get the 4th edition now. Awesome.
BTW to any fence sitters reading this thread who haven't bought this book. I've been having a great time with it building various projects in it or from the related website. It is totally worth it.

I hope that cave you've been living in is cozy.
Best post of the day!
At least 'Eye didn't say something like "I read your earlier book when I was a kid!"
When it comes to electronics, a cave is usually not where my head is stuck. It's worse than that.

And Dr. J. Gordon specializes in brain cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in children. Puts a little perspective to the little book I wrote!
