Hi Hanno,
That will be great so I will meet you then. Do you have a phone no? Do you know if there is parking at near the rear?
I have a white 1988 Toyota Supra. You can contact me cluso at bluemagic dot biz (I PM'ed the phone no a few days ago)
Lachlan is checking flights to see if he can make it too, and I can collect him.
Ray
I will certainly be there one way or another tomorrow evening. Just booking some flights. Unfortunately I will need to leave about 8pm to make a flight back.
Ray thanks for your kind offer. I'll call you tonight and let you know the detail about whats happening
The second meeting took place last night at the same venue. Hanno, Tubular (Lachlan) and myself (Clus099 - Ray) attended. We had a great discussion and showed our projects. Hanno has some great commercial projects for hobbyists, aiming them at schools and unis.
Hanno has a photo and will post when he arrives in the US (flying today).
Cluso, Hanno, wonderful to catch up last night. Really interesting. I would have loved to talk for longer but as it turned out I was precisely as late as it is possible to be and not miss a plane (they had to reconnect the Aerobridge and knock on the closed airliner door and adjust their paperwork etc). Not going to repeat that!
RossH sorry didn't get to meet you this time around, I couldn't make it up Sunday due to a prior engagement. Hopefully next time.
Pacman its a very generous offer, but I can't afford the time at the moment. I have some similar dev gear and problem with finding a good home to send it to where it can be of good use. Perhaps the solution is something like a travelling suitcase, or donating to a community hackerspace (Robots + Dinosaurs Sydney?)
pacman: Are you sure you will not find the time to use that board? The LCD touchscreen and the WIFI are great parts to play with. I am sure you can interface to these, given time.
I am not in a position to do anything with the board although the LCD touchscreen would be great to play with. But alas, my other projects have slipped and I need to do them first.
So, if you cannot use it, offer it to someone who will put it to good use.
I hope you guys keep it up! It's fun to dream about going down there someday...
(wondering if I can write it off as a business expense now...
Rayman I can just imagine the IRS take on that:- 'So, you want to claim the expense of a visit to a surf beach in Australia, to attend not an official, not even an unoffical, but a *very unnofficial* meeting, held at a waterfront bar? Okay... '
But of course you or any other prop users would be very welcome anytime...
It's still Wednesday- first 14 hours in Sydney, then a 13 hour flight, and now 9 hours here, I'm fading
But, huge thanks to Ross, Lachlan, and Ray for taking the time to meet up- I had a fantastic time! Looking forward to seeing more Aussie Propheads next time- I'll make sure to change the name to something the IRS approves- Super Official Prop Organization Robot Internet Faction Interesting Club "SOPORIFIC". Next stop- a visit with the penguin master!

So if no-one here wants that microchip board - I'll ask on the main forums.
Last chance...any takers..anyone??
Hi pacman,
I would not have time to do anything with it. By all means offer it to others in the main forums.
Ross.

Hey Ross, where are your Prop toys? I know you're good at software...
So when factoring in population ratios (71 Americans per kiwi, 14 per aussie) I figure we got an equivalent turnout of 113, not bad for a start
Ross.
Well I'm very impressed...
