@ $20 per board I have an immediate need for 3 boards. What size is the EEPROM?

Just checked it again, nop not yet. Maybee by the end of the business day at parallax. It may be online but going through propigation, that takes anywhere from a few hours to 48 hours to get around the world. If thats the case you can see the site by typing in its IP address directly. If they are kind enough to post it....

Is there an easy work around to run this board off battery?

Use a USB battery/cellphone recharger. Just like the little ones people found for the penguins.

To answer some of your questions, I have attached a preliminary copy of the design files. The layout of the 40-pin header will probably change to better accommodate the WiFi module. It will have a 64 KB EEPROM, and you can power it off of a very inexpensive USB charger by connecting /USB_PWR_EN to VSS through the 40-pin header.

I'd love to play as well.. But I can only imagine the shipping cost for one to Canada.. In the past, that has made the cost double.. A real turn-off!

I bought a box of USB chargers that look exactly like those...
They are so light it seems like there is nothing in those tiny things :-)

    Hi David,

    The files are MIA :)

I mentioned that on Ken's thread announcing the new web site. He said it'll be there shortly.

Yep, we're aware. We took our 1:00 pm launch really seriously! This was an intentional oversight, but to be added as soon as possible. Since we sell products you can count on us taking care of that link soon.

    Thanks,

    It's up and it's cool
    Some new stuff:
Application Notes nothing that is not in the forums but nice (a least for me) to see some key things in a formal app note
Gold Standard Objects: This has been talked about but now it is formalized with an included style guide. I hope that the style guide will be linked from the Obex page and that we can tell in Obex what Objects meet the "Gold Standard".

    Very professional looking!

I already have four propeller dev boards, but this one is too cool to pass up. When they are in stock I may have to pick up a few. They would make great gifts to like minded friends who have avoided the prop in favor of the arduino (suckers). Not to mention that I would be more inclined to make more projects permanent which such a cheap platform.

I hope this new venture into the professional markets is a success. I have been a fan of this company for many years. Branching out like this to tackle a crowded market in a crappy economy is a very gutsy move. Godspeed Parallax!

BTW Did anyone expect the "Gold Standard Archive" link found on the new site to be a zip file containing a collection of objects? It actually only contains the Full Duplex Serial object. Maybe I misinterpreted something.

Can't think of any reason why I would qualify for a free sample so I plopped down my $20. Free would be cool though!!! ;-)

Finally figured how to get a couple of Quickstarts. Expected to be available around 1 June. Got things to do in the meantime, fortunately, else it would be torture waiting for delivery to occur. Like a wee tyke at Xmas time.

Ok, I am playing hide and seek here. I have been to the Parallax main site and Parallaxsemiconductor site and cannot find the board for sale.

I would have expected to see it at the URL below but it is not on page 1 or 2:

    Thanks David!

I was delighted to find that the QuickStart fits the 40 pin connector on my prototyping boards (Proteus, Propteus and more soon) as it matches the pins used for 3v3 and GND!

This means that there are prototyping boards available for QuickStart from a third-party (me, Mikronauts) at launch :-)

    Regards,

    Bill
