@ TheFritch, Would a camera like this (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8667) work for you?

Holy cow that camera would be perfect. I would have no clue what to do with that piece of hardware however. I wouldn't even know how to physically handle it or add it to a circuit. Is it possible to work with pieces this small in a home brew lab?

I've used that sort of thing with a home-made PCB. It does need quite a lot of experience, though.

As Leon says, it is possible to work with it in a home brew lab. Sparkfun sells a lot of stuff to hobbyists and tinkerers.

That would need to be mounted beside the led at the tip and both probably be connected to the circuit board by a small cable to keep the size down. Hard to make any suggestions without information on the physical packaging you intend to use.

Here's a perfect example of what I want to do! As a matter of fact this would be better than the laryngoscopy as this is more of a bronchoscopy procedure.

So they big question is.... How'd they do that?!?!?!

Thats what I want to know because I can make my own adjustments and changes so that i can market an improved version and make it affordable for rural EMS for all the kiddos and people from lower-income communities. They deserve the same standard of care and the same chance at life.

A project like this will also advance my knowledge enough that I might be able to apply these principles and practices to others aspects of medicine in the field! There are a ton of charities and organizations that could benefit from these advances as well such as Operation Smile and Doctors without Borders.

    Thanks all!

You are asking some excellent questions and I be happy to discuss as we have similar current development work in this area.
