Rumble Robot with Arduino and PING sensor

The Rumble Robot was a toy that was around a decade or so ago. It came with an IR remote control that kind of sucked. The idea was, you do battle with them and shoot a "laser" at each other until one became disabled.
Well they eventually fell out of favor. I found one at a thrift store one day (great source of hackable toys BTW) and decided to see what I could do with it. Little did I know that I'd end up going to Maker Faire with this creation and winning an Editors Choice award! Kip Kay was there and shot a video that he featured on "Weekend Projects". :)

Here's the project page on my website with full instructions on the build:

Here's the code in PDF:

Parts list:

1 - Rumble Robot toy
1- Arduino
1 - PING sensor from Parallax
1 - 100 ohm resistor
1 - microswitch
Hookup wire

This is a great robot platform to play with. There are others out there as well.
Pretty much anything with drive motors and an h-bridge.
LOVE that PING!
Happy hacking!

Yeah they're a bit pricey but I really want to trey one out in a robot. I've got tons of Roomba parts to play with to build one. Those motors are really cool and they even have rotation encoders. :)

I've got some stuff together to send tomorrow. I'll send you the Prop Manual too if you want a hard copy.

It's also available as a PDF here.

I have it on my iPad, so I don't use the hard copy anymore.

This project needs a Stamp or Propeller.

Humanoido-- I just sent him some of my stuff to get his appetite going. I suspect he will soon agree with you.
