Hello Interested Parties,

I have attached the Chapter 5 draft pdf of the upcoming XBee Tutorial, once again with comments enabled in Adobe Reader. (Note: PDF has been updated.)

See the Chapter 1 thread for more details on the project. An index of the chapters posted to date is included in the Wireless Index Sticky Thread.

Feedback is encouraged! You can email me directly (editor@parallax.com) or reply to this thread.

Thanks much,
-Steph

I just noticed some of the code examples got mashed together in the BS2 examples during one of the editing stages. Please see the posted zip file for actual code.

Sorry about that Martin. I'll fix it and repost the PDF. (Done.)

Will you be doing more with the Stamp and API mode? I have a number of Stamps/XBee pairs running, all reporting to a central computer. The free PC based libraries all seemed to want the XBee in API mode so that's what I ended up having to implement on the Stamp/XBee side.

The've been working flawlessly since early spring, monitoring and controlling my chicken coop, shop lights and watching the driveway for visitors.

    Hi Kevin,
I'm working on the API chapter now, but I wasn't going to use the the Stamp with API, just the propeller for passing data. As you can find in some of the forums, the BASIC Stamp & API Mode is very limiting for passing data.

Both sides do not need to be in API mode for passing data. You can have the PC's XBee in API mode and the Stamp side in AT mode - though it is dependent on what you need have done.

I don't know if anybody else has this problem, but I tried downloading Draft2 from the link above on 2 different computers. In both cases, Figure 5-2 on page 78 is partially scrambled.

Hmm, it appears to be fine in the PDF I posted. I'll post the image separately...

Thanks! That's why I'm posting the drafts - I can be busy formatting the next chapter while y'all are proofreading the last one!

    Hi Steph
The figure is fine in the first Draft pdf (which I downloaded), but it is messed up in the Draft 2 pdf linked at the top of this thread. I just retried it and still got the distorted diagram.

It's the same image in both drafts, and I'll make sure it's not corrupted in the final. Thanks for pointing it out.
