    Yep, my new drive is a Hitachi.

    But it's a 500 GB Hitachi Deskstar. This isn't the same as teh IBM Deathstar that people warn about, I hope...?

    I didn't read the entire discussion, but my Samsung drive just died after 5yrs of 48hrs per week run-time... Pretty decent I think. The drive is technically still good, the boot sector is corrupt so it's possibly not the drive to blame.... but I replaced it anyways. That's good life for a drive!

    My dad has had a lot of problems with Western Digital although I've been fortunate with my WD drives.
