Holiday Give Away??!!

Ok, guys......

We usually have a holiday Christmas give away. Does anyone have anything they are willing to part with for another person?

I would like to put a limit on the ability to receive gifts. A person can only receive one gift from the give away. This will allow many people to get something.

To recieve something you must post to the thread. Private information can be PM'd or emailed.

I have two items to give away this season:

uSD card board (it has it's headers attached, and it is put together where the card is inverted). This is the card I developed for Gadget Gangster : www.gadgetgangster.com/find-a-project/56?projectnum=230 It is gone

I also have a Propeller 40 pin DIP. Sorry it is spoken for

These items are free to the person who requests the items on the thread. Only one item per person. I would prefer the person be in the Continental US, if not, I would ask for shipping for the item.

I dare anyone to jump in here with other stuff to help your fellow forum member have the Christmas spirit.

I'd like to jump into this...

I've got a USB Propeller Protoboard that I'd like to find a good home for..
Here's the catch.. I'd prefer the person to be in the US, but most importantly...
I'd like this to be someone's first Propeller Protoboard.

I'll respond to the first person who posts this this thread who can can say
they meet that qualification. Merry Christmas!

Can I put my hand up for this? BUT I'm not in the US {I will gladly pay postage to the reciver}. He is studding Mechatronics @ uni and this would make him a very excited brother in law.

As for hand back (to the community), I cant offer anything at this instant, but I will be most happy to go through my boxes over the weekend and will offer AT LEAST two things..

It's yours. Send me a private message with your mailing address, and I'll get it out to you.

All my items are gone, but I hope many people share the giving spirit. Remember it is people and relationships which make life worthwhile.

Does it _have_ to be propeller/Parallax related? I have much computer hardware/Print servers/ other 'industrial electronics'/ you get the idea - I'd be most happy to give some of that away (the caveat about postage to states being picked up by the recipient - {for expensive to post items} would have to stand however)

I was going to split that bag between everyone who wanted some LEDs, not give it all to one person. 200 LEDs or 5 Mini Dins or 10 8 pin Mini dins or all of the above to anyone who wants them. I have plenty to offer. I ship US only, cheapest way possible.

Okay - Here is what I have. I will update this post as things move...

1 quadravox QV430V Sound Programmer - never used! I bought it from parallax years ago and it was lost in a move right after I bought it.
I might be able to dig up an ISD chip to go with it. (old school? Yeah!) See attached picture. still available and now with a QV306M4 sound module makes this pair a complete set!·http://gramlich.net/projects/datasheets/misc/qv306.pdf·is the datasheet for it.

And this is probably the things some of you will want...

I have 20 "3 digit 7segment blue led" part number WT4031AB. Lets say that's good for 5 sets of 4 pieces for a total of 12 digits a person. I attached a picture of what it looks lit, as well as another picture of the actual display. That's 96 "LEDs" per set if you count the segments.
http://www.foryard-led.ru/pdf/fyt-4031ax_bx.pdf·has a pdf that is simular, though I have never found an 'exact' pdf for WT-4031AB.··All Gone - sorry.

Just PM me what you like. No need to ask for it publicly in the forum here. Sorry - US only for free shipping.

All has been taken now.· Merry Christmas gang!· This was a lot of fun. :-)

This an excellent idea (the whole give it away to another). Thanks James for starting it up.

But why limit it to Christmas? Perhaps we could start a thread (in the new year after all the madness of the festive season has ended) of 'old bits we are prepared to give away for a good purpose". Sort of like Freecycle for us Parallax nerds..

Worth a thought? (and no, I do not want to hijack this thread - please keep an eye on the sandbox for a new thread discussing this idea sometime in the future...) but have a think and consider...

Please PM me with any comments

I think sharing freely is a great idea, but most people probably feel a few will take advantage of the situation.

Christmas is a special time, and there is a good reason to share. I would share with someone locally, but there is no one. So I have to resort to sharing with my forum family.

I hope others will have the giving spirit, and jump in to give the things they don't need, or haven't used. Or to have the joy of giving for no reason but to enjoy the appreciation of the receiver.

I truly believe actions return to you, so if you give, one day you will receive.

I like the whole idea, but I think if we extended this past Christmas I, along with many others, would stop giving the kind of stuff we have now and start giving more "junk". I wouldn't jsut give away a lot of perfectly good LEDs and connectors unless it's Christmas, so thats just my opinion.

    @Oak graphics
That's great! I'll throw in a few extras too....

Although this is not Prop related I have a SX Tech Board (like new) with 2 new SX28's and a SX Key(serial). I would like to throw in the holiday mix. It needs to find a new workbench to call home. :) Ill pay postage to any one in the US.

This was a fantastic idea! We need to make sure this becomes a Holiday tradition.

When I started this idea, it was mainly aimed at Parallax items. This is because support can be found here. I didn't specifically leave out any Parallax item.

I really think any item for free is great, but if using a different chip, it takes the member to a new place that they have to start the learning process again.

I would think any general use items would be good (computer parts, power supplies, testing equipment, etc).

I will try to make this a yearly tradition. I'm don't always have items that are unused, but it does happen some.

Spread the word, get others involved.

    Count me in!

I have eighteen SX28 protoboards looking for a new home.· Each one has 3 white LEDs and resistors soldered onto them (and maybe some other stuff on a couple of them) but other than that they are perfect.· Also they each have a 20MHz resonator plugged into the socket.· I'll also include a small bag of white LEDs (11000 mcd) with each package.

PM me your mailing address.· 1 per person until they are gone.· U.S. only.

    Zero·left.· Closed
