Just paid a visit to manufacturing to see ~400 PropScopes waiting to be sold to our customers. Doing final assembly on the Quick Start guide, packaging and web page setup.

We attempted to have this done before Thanksgiving but we were cutting it too close, so you should see it in a day or two.

I'll eat a PropScope if we're not selling them by Friday. How's that? /1/

/1/ Concept adapted from Hanno in a thread in which he offered to eat a Prop Proto Board if a certain customer didn't prove out his claims about a particular product.

I wish I could help you Bean, but it's now out of my control.
v1.0 of the PropScope Getting Started Guide, firmware and software is in Parallax's hands now.
Eating a Protoboard is one thing- a PropScope will be much harder to get down: beautiful blue metal case, 2 professional BNC probes (switchable between 1x and 10x) USB cable, and the getting started guide. Good luck Ken!

This is good news indeed!!

As much as I like the idea of cheap entertainment,. (ie: Ken choking down a Propscope)
I'm pretty sure I would cry real tears to see Will it blend? with a new Propscope!

I'll send you a candy-PropScope. Would that be a fair Win-Win-Situation ? ; - ) )

What a waste of a good PropScope! Don't eat it! smile.gif

I've never had a scope and most likely never will, so I can't see why you would be so exited about one. I suppose it's like a PropPlug: I went for months without one but when I got one I could not find out how I went without one.

woah.... n0 scope?
*all the patrons in the saloon just dove for the floor, walls, and the exits, for the fear of what may result from those words*

im super poor and was hoping the propscope would be under 200$ (so i could get it as a christmas gift)
This economy is killing me, with out a job/income i can't do anything, get anything done, buy anything,
and best of all everyone is telling us it will last through 2012. Heh, if it goes that long, I think we may have a large amount of people start to gather at the white house, because money is paper, and is printed. Jobs are made by letting companies "borrow" money at low rates to fuel the economy. (i.e. people work, get money, buy things, company takes money, hires more workers, buys product, and pays back loans. And REPEAT. But the plan is/was to give money to bankers who kept it all, instead of hardworking business that provide the gear to the economy, but without the teeth (money) on the gear it GOES NO WHERE. Why is it ok to print money that goes to workers?
BECAUSE THEY SPEND IT, THUS STIMULATING THE ECONOMY.
Well first off our gold standard that backed dollars was DESTROYED in 1984. They have been printing tons of money for all their buddies, and not for the american people.

Sorry im done with that rant..
Im just mad that i won't be getting a prop scope, and I totally blame people like greenspan/bernakie for it.

I must disagree. The gold standard was destroyed·on Aug 15, 1971 when Nixon "closed the gold window" (not allowing the exchange of gold for dollars). He really had no choice, there were far more dollars then·there was gold.

After that date our currency (not money anymore)·is only back by the "full faith and credit" of the government. And that ain't worth much nowadays.

P.S. Sorry to take this thread off-course....Please resume your regularly schedule programming...

I know you didn't say it I was messin with ya..

Quote stealer...

I like how so many are informed about this economic mess.
We need to be, because when it all blows up, regular americans will be the ones to fix it, not some brenakie or greenspan etc...
Now where did I put that constitution turned into toilet paper.
Look what off topic straying I caused.. but hey im really mad, really really really really reallly realllllllllly,
..\..
..
I try to use the anger constructively, but i can't buy anything to be constructive with when I am not given a fair shake at the american dream.

"I suppose thats why they call it the "american dream" because you have to be asleep to believe it," George Carlin.

The only thing that money holds is time. And it does that because almost everyone must invest time to get money, and this is actually why not having the gold standard anymore is ok. But along with this, means that our government has no excuse at all to have high unemployment numbers, they just need to pay people to sit in a chair and "do their time" to get the cash. The value of the dollar will fall when unemployment rises. But when people can spend money, the economy boosts, value of the dollar rises.... Would YOU care if the govt paid some unemployed person minimum wage to sit in a chair and invest their time(regardless of WHAT they do for that time?) That would SUCK but at least they have a chance to support themselves, versus NOTHING AT ALL, a.k.a GO DIE.

I welcome widget inc, open 24 hours, pays minimum wage, and you can put in as much time at any time that you choose.
You will be paid for your time invested. As unemployment lowers these "widget inc" places can shut down, because people will seek better pay. But we MUST at least give everyone the chance to earn a wage and survive(well in our country at least)

BACK TO THE PROP SCOPE!!!!

I can only hope I win some place in the prop contest that will get me that scope.
I have gone FAR too long without an essential EE tool at home.
This is also the reason I have not gotten into PASM at all, i want eyes.

Fished the following image from my e-mail today which is destined for the home page of our web site:

attachment.php?attachmentid=65514

So where are the goods? A final check by Josh (tech guru) detected a software issue. This could be the result of installing many prior versions of PropScope software on his PC as part of Hanno's evolution. Other PCs didn't exhibit this problem. A whole bunch of blue PropScopes are barking their way around our kitting room like small dogs who want to be adopted. Hanno, where art thou? I really don't want to eat a PropScope on Friday at lunch.

Josh's problem could easily work itself out on its own, but it may need Hanno's expertise as well. And once Josh lets it go then this image goes up on the web page and you can buy one.

Just letting you all know what's going on back at Parallax.

Hanno, check your Skype for a message. And you're right - I can't eat a PropScope if we need the inventory for sales. Note the price at $249, BTW. We wanted $199 but this became impossible with our USA manufacturing costs, not to mention everybody's NRE and your amazing contributions. Somebody needs to buy 3,420 units relatively quickly if you know what I mean.

Look great Ken!

I think $249 is a good price considering it's supporting American jobs.

What does the little add-on board do ?

It looks like maybe 2 more channels ? Or 2 outputs ? Is it included ?

@Rich, please don't count on a daily deal on this product so quickly. That only happens once we've got the manufacturing pipeline really smoothed out and efficient with new products. Until then we're going to be doing an in-stock, out-of-stock dance with PropScopes as the demand will be quite high even without Daily Deal offerings. We're still releasing about 40-50 units at a time but we need inventory levels of 250+ to do a daily deal.

Consider the potential consequences of consuming what's intended for your consumers:

That very unit might be the one that would have ended up on the work bench of the next Thomas Edison !

So, then your tummy would be full, but your heart empty.

Under these circumstances, I'm sure we would all absolve you of your culinary commitment. :))
