i am looking for a female header that is .1 inch pitch. 2 rows by 5 position. I will be mounting a Board on 3/4 standoffs over a Parallax Pink module and want to put it on the underside of the board so that it will connect the two boards. Any ideas how to start the search?

    If you don't need a lot of them, Samtec probably has just what you're looking for. Their sampling program is bend-over-backwards-generous, but their OEM pricing is a bit on the steep side. There are probably other, less expensive options, but the 3/4" spacing demands a a so-called "elevator socket", and Samtec shines when it comes to such oddities.

    If you can obtain DIP sockets that mount on a PC board, you could saw one of them in two down the middle, then cut off a five-hole length from each half. This would give you a 2x5 female through-hole-mount socket to connect to the Berg strip.

    Of course you caould instead order from any of several suppliers, but sometimes it's easier to make what you want out of what you can get.

    Have you tried www.allelectronics.com

    They have a lot of surplus headers, SIP's,DIP's etc.

    The Samtec P/N you are looking for is ESQT-105-02-L-D-750. Datasheet is attached. I am waiting for responses from Tyco and Molex engineers.

    Just got a response from Molex. They don't have a receptacle version with a 0.75" mating height. They do have stacking headers at 0.75", so here is the mating solution if you use a 0.75" header:

    Molex 0.75", 2x5 Stacking Header P/N: 0877971001
    Molex standard 2x5 Header Receptacle P/N: 0901512110

    Datasheets attached for both.

    Word of caution - wirewrap pins·(DIP hardware) ·and header sockets are not always compatible!

    Hi,

    I have a bag full of them - AllElectronics.com. If I can dig the packing slip from out of the PILE of packing slips I have here I will get you the P/N. I bought these specifically FOR the PINK's little 10 pin bundle. They fit nicely and press-fit onto a 10 conductor ribbon cable, looks professional and works great.
