While I have VGA connectors on most of my boards mice and kybd to I rarely use them
1: LCD,, serial 4X20
2: Composite video
3: I only use Kybd and mouse on my Hydra
4: I have only used VGA to test a few of the compass programs and some sample programs
5: I have only ever sued sound on the Hydra for a game
Outputs:
PST: always
TV: Tried it but old small tv's w/video not readily available. Daughter took my 1987 Amdec 300 computer monitor for her vcr.
VGA: Just tried it yesterday. Fun to play with RGB. Up to my *** in old VGA screens!
other: LCD: 2x16 and 2x8.
3.5 digit LED: made a digital Volt-Amp-Freq meter once. (w/dimmer!)
Proprietary HTML, SNMP, Telnet board. I just send it serial, the board does all the magic.
Q1: Use TV output to debug from time to time. It can be very useful to debug.
Q2: Never use a mouse because I am wotrking on robots, there are always plenty of other inputs.
Q1: TV for the win--I have used VGA exactly 6 times.
LCD--Still haven't found out how, but am working on it...
Q2: I love using a mouse, but it is difficult to interface to the Gadget Gangster pcbs... So I use it primarily with my demoboard. Verdict-- I use it occasionally.
The one thing I must say about VGA vs Composite is that it is a LOT harder to connect to VGA and requires a mot more I/O, while with a TV, all you have to do is rummage around in your closet for a cable and you're set to run PropDOS.

Here's the question... If your in front of the computer, lets say programing the chip. Then don't you need to use a monitor? So it could be assumed that everyone who can actually use the chip could purchase a vga spliter or they might just have a second monitor to use to display the vga output...

Then I graduated to an old 2 * 20 line LCD which got things running up to the CP/M command prompt.
Since then it's mostly the terminal in BST unless I can borrow the telly for a bit. Which is not so good for CP/M anyway.

Nyamekye,
It's really easy to come by an extra VGA screen these days. Space is a premium for me though, as is portability.
But yes, I think people could just get a switch, or extra screen or maybe just have one.
