1. in order, most to least:

VGA - it's hooked up almost all the time
TV - with a wire stuck out the RCA jack --- it'll transmit > 3 feet to the rabbit ears :)
Other (OK USB does count, I guess)
LCD

2. yes, about 50% of the time

QUESTION 2: Haven't really found a use for it yet, but do use a keyboard from time to time (Femto Basic)

Interesting question but why stop there OBC. I like to have both TV and VGA but the traditional connectors are bulky. I have been using a standard RJ-45 jack with 8 pins which gives me my VGA + TV + audio. If I want VGA then I simply plug in an RJ45 to DE15 (DB15S) cable for VGA and so on. Also, the RJ45 cables and crimp connectors are as common as ethernet, funny that.

As to the mouse I must admit that I have not used it other than for demos but I keep my options open there too. Besides, the standard PS/2 connector can have either mouse or keyboard plugged in and I had an older laptop that had a single PS/2 connector and if you wanted to use both an external keyboard and external mouse then they had a splitter that you could use. Normally there are two unused pins on the PS/2 connector and it quite common for these to be a secondary PS/2 port en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PS/2_connector . Personally I just use the other two pins for the I2C bus so that I can at a pinch plug in external I/O onto the PS/2 which BTW could just as easily use the PS/2 CLK & DAT.

Q1: TV more than VGA.
Q2: Rarely use mouse.

I use a PC for things I might need a VGA/Mouse for on Propeller. One of my goals for end of June was to have a VGA/Mouse textured GUI demo though. Guess this response kind of shows how far I am with that :)

To question 1: I use a VGA because it looks more scientific than a TV (and the lab rats can't switch it to watch Spongebob Squarepants).

To question 2: I use a mouse because it gives me the ability to drill through menus on the VGA and to display data and to change the values of variables on the fly.

Thanks so much for caring. smile.gif

Q1. Monitor
PC via USB 98% (PropPlug equiv with PropTerminal, PST, PropTool)
VGA 2% (used for testing)
TV 0% (but tested it works)
LCD 0% (never)
Q2. Mouse
no, never tested
Keyboard 2% (used for testing)

However, with more time I expect to use VGA and Keyboard for standalone operation (PropDOS, CPM & ZiCog, Flex or OMU & MoCog, and maybe Apple //e)

Q1: TV (Timothys LCD) - sooner or later I like to try the PSP LCD
Q2: no - but I recently found this little cutie http://www.csd-electronics.de/data/pdf/MiniTrackball.pdf
····· PS: Do mouse wheels count? I plan to rip off two mouse wheels from old mice and connect directly to the prop. Gives me a nice x/y input device (menu navigation).

Following on from Peter's comments...

I too have considered trying to replace the VGA connector with something smaller. I wanted something that could be purchased (cable) rather than having to make it. I have not had any luck. While I like the RJ45, I think it is more likely in future we are going to see ethernet on the pcbs and this will confuse people. However, I would like something that we could standardise on.
Using the RJ45: cables can be bought readily. The RJ45 to DB9 unpinned socket can be bought fairly easily. The VGA DB15 is the same size (and if readily available - I haven't checked) could be substituted. The only issue is the multiple ground pins - are they all required??

The new TwinBlade (when I finish it :-( ) will have...

One PS2 socket with both Keyboard and Mouse on it. If you just want one, then plug it in. Otherwise buy a splitter cable on eBay cheaply.

The TV will use the 4 way 3.5mm audio/video socket (from DigiKey - the smt version is nicer and easy to solder onto a designed pcb). There are various pinouts for this. I have chosen the Apple iPod/iPhone format (defined on the wiki). It contains composite video and stereo out. A splitter cable to RCA (red, white and yellow) can be obtained cheaply on eBay.

TV, mostly on capture card. 80 percent capture, 20 percent real, CRT Television.

Mouse, on occasion.

Keyboard, frequently.

I've ran VGA twice. Once to see the demo Linus wrote, and the other time to run his pre-demo work. I've ignored it otherwise.

For me, the problem is portability. VGA doesn't travel well.
