I confess, I watched and enjoyed the superbowl, was thrilled by the great plays, and drank beer (Cooper's Australian). I could live without the silly commercials and the totally overproduced show with the Boss. The yellow first down line superimposed on the field under the players is a neat touch of technology, but they do still use the measuring poles brought in from the sidelines to measure for the first down. There must be a lot of inaccuracy in that, and maybe a scheme with a laser could do better, not a GPS I think, but traditions rule. The hardest calls are things like the last big play--Were both Holme's toes on the ground, or not? At least now they use the video replay for controversial calls. Sorry, talking football.
To renew my nerd credentials, I was working to fix our dishwasher at the same time, one of those things with a phenolic circuit board, buried inside a control panel under lots of screws. A 10 amp @ 25 degC SSR to control a 1200 watt heater.
