Tim, I used a proto board with a $26 eth converter and your 3" display and it works just like a ybox2 !! Looks great! I also used it on my PropAutoPilot. Looks good there also...I have many great plans for this display.

for quantity pricing you can send me a PM or sales e-mail at Brilldea. See our site to get the sales e-mail.
In general though, the pricing can be less because of the quantity. There isn't a large pricing drop until 1000 units, but then again it isn't a really big drop.

I always expect to fry one. If not, then I still come ahead. Many uses for this gizmo.
Ybox is the perfect app for your display: Ybox + LCD = Superfast Chumby + several free cogs!
I want to develop a portable instrument for testing cable TV installations discussed on this forum recently.
My intention is to create a prototype with a SparkFun protoboard (power, USB, the works for $20.00 U.S.), a 3.6 volt Six Ampere-Hour LIPO battery, very rugged shock-proof enclosure.
Hanno's propscope for measuring signals is an option. A/D converter bandwidth could be very simple and slow or as complex as we want.
Total package is handheld with an option to power down the display after a time limit and an AC wallwart option.
Basically, a TriCorder for video guys.
You need to stock the Ybox, and sell the LCD with the Ybox as a package. That will give you a hook for undecided customers.
Ole Man Earl, what ethernet converter are you using? I have Wiznet w5100 and w5300 pcb assemblies.
I really need to get one of these babies spinning.

Michael - Thanks for the nice comment. Right now I have ordering disabled because I am away from the office and unable to fulfill orders. Later this week I will reenable it and start shipping orders next week when I return to home base.
JMH - I will look into YBox, I think the device is cool and would like to sell a combo kit. I am also putting together some hardware using a Prop and a W5100 module. So perhaps a new YBOX clone could be born, although my hardware will be general purpose for other uses I have in mind. In fact the core reason for designing the Prop/W5100 system is home automation.

Have you done any tests to check the displays in sun light.· I have a possible application but needs to be visible outside. Also what is the viewing angle like ?
Hi Tim...I just read through this thread and got so excited I went to your web site to order a couple displays. It appears that since your on the road you aren't accepting orders for the displays until you return. I'm just hoping that your source hasn't dried up and they have been discontinued. Tell me it ain't so.
I have plenty of displays in stock. I disabled ordering because I am out on the road along with the rest of my staff. In a couple days I will reopen my ordering once my travel plans back to HK are confirmed. The ordering system will be open for a week or so and then down for another week or so while I move to Singapore. I apologize for the trouble, but unfortunately this is the way it is while the small business is growing.
I will have to try and do some daylight tests as well, I haven't done any of those yet.

For those that have been waiting, I just reenabled the ordering system on Brilldea's web site for the 3.0" LCD and driver board. You can order the units here: www.brilldea.com/product_30LCDanddriver.html
This week I should get a sample of a 3.5" LCD unit with a driver board that has VGA input!! Also I learned that the 3.0" unit that I am currently selling may get changed to a 16:9 aspect ration instead of the current 4:3 aspect ratio. I will start another thread on the 3.5" LCD unit once I get it and have time to set it up and snap some pictures.

Excellent idea OBC. I haven't taken time to try this yet, perhaps once I get setup in Singapore I could try this. It would be neat to create a tiny projector, but for those that don't like to hack and recombine something like the TI's Pico Projector kit is a fair price with some great options. search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=296-23836-ND

Tim,
The TI Pico Projector kit looks very nice, but it seems to only accept DVI, not analog VGA. Any thoughts on a cheap and simple interface for the Propeller?
I'm sus on the brightness though. 10-50 lumens isn't much but they claim LED lumens are different to halogen lumens somehow?? I'm not convinced. However there are DLP based projectors with 3000 lumens
Right Mike, I had forgotten about the DVI input. There is probably some converter somewhere, but it would add to the cost. To Tubular's point on cost, again I was watching some items about Beagle Boards and this TI Pico Projector and I thought there was a sale at one time with the system down around US$150. I look at a lot of e-mails though and perhaps I was mistaken, I see the current Digikey price is as you said Tubular.

I got some measurements for you, I will put it on my to-do list for updating the data sheet, unfortunately the update is a ways down my to-do list.
PCBA board height is roughly 8.5mm which includes a small amount for the pins/solder joints on the backside of the PCB.
Screen height is ~2.58mm and further dimensions can be seen on page 31 of the data sheet seen here: www.brilldea.com/assets_files/30lcdanddriver/A030DL01%20datasheet.pdf
Mounting the two items together would be roughly 11.08 or so not including the material needed to mount the two items together. You could use double sided foam tape, just be careful of conductive tape and account for the thickness of the tape in the measurement of height.

I got a question for all you out there that have a display. As you can see in the product demo video the image from the propeller is truncated at the top and the bottom. I have attached other video device outputs to the display and those items fill the whole screen. Any idea why the Propeller signal is truncated like this? maybe the smarts of the screen is detecting something odd in the Propeller signal? Maybe the Propeller signal is too good or it has something to do with the resolution of the signal.
In other news, I have been talking with Chuck of www.mountainkingtech.com/. He has shared with me some prototype pictures of a mounting kit he worked up for the 3.0" LCD display. I expect Chuck will post here once he gets it up on his site. I will also be getting some units to sell through my site with new purchases. If you have a display or two already from me this kit looks to be an inexpensive item to keep the display nice and from getting crunched on your workbench.

Yes JMH, I have a unit that accepts VGA and composite video and is 3.5" screen. I got a sample of the product but I only had 10 minutes to try the device before I packed it for the move to Singapore. It will be another week or so before I get to testing the unit again. I have plenty of travel and a lot of unpacking and setting up house.
I see that now under new products, I missed it before. Wonderful looking units.
