Thanks, Humanoido - this looks like just the information I need to get back to playing with my Penguin. I hate to admit it, but I was entirely confused by all the programs you have been turning out & was not sure which ones were the most up-to-date. Looks like this magazine will help unravel my problems & finally get programming my penguin myself.
    Thanks again!

    This is fantastic!

Edit - Just printed it out and it is immediately obvious how much work and love went into this.

Thanks guys, for the great comments! I really appreciate
hearing from you, and collecting your thoughts and posts
as this is what keeps me going on the project.

Penguin Tech Issue #2 is at work-up stage. It has some
fascinating new projects with Penguin Robot and the Basic
Stamp plus HomeWork Board. There's lots of new software,
circuits, and we've unraveled a few mysteries, and
    perhaps created new ones!

There's a surprise too. In working with one particular
Parallax sensor, we found the connection process to be
absolutely remarkable. I'd say the results may be
more than interesting. It's in the feature article.

I think at least two featured projects can be included
in each issue. Penguin Tech magazine issue #2 appears
to have increased to about 500K. Issue #1 was around
300K. Even with the additional photos, it's still very
manageable across internet, easy to read in PDF format,
and easily printable in full color.

Things might change with more pages. What do you think?
Should we keep the current number of pages, or see
    about an incremental increase?

    Keep those comments rolling in.

PT is now on the Robosaavy servers and is distributed
to other servers sourced through their forum.
Remember, all the PT files can be freely distributed,
downloaded, traded, put up on web sites, sourced,
blogged and linked. Issue # 2 is now closed for
article submissions, however, #3 is open for a short
    time.

jumpin.gifPenguin Tech Magazine Issue #2 is coming soon...

If you love robots and Basic Stamps, here’s a small teaser
about the second issue that should hold you over until PT2
is out the door. Did you ever see or hear about the elusive
Robot Humanizer? Is it fact or fiction?

Ever wonder how a robot master got his start in building
robots? Ever wonder what Penguin Robot would look like
with something that resembles a face? How would you install
and program a multiple line LCD on Penguin? What about the
weight factor and walking? Where do you find 7 new Penguin
    programs?

Exactly how do you PBASIC code all those IF-THEN variations?
Penguin Robot is filled with Easter Eggs! Can you find any?
Penguin Tech Magazine Issue #2 may have the answers to
some of these perplexing and enigmatic questions.
    Stay tuned for more.

Penguin Tech Magazine issue number 2 is complete.
    http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=751970

The PIR detector "Humanizer" was very interesting! Did you see
how perfect that helmet fit into the expansion port? Plus the promise
to provide various stamp support was honored with details on
running it with a HomeWork BS2 Board and a Penguin Basic Stamp
    BS2px.

It was also very useful to attach the LCD display and get so much more
capability out of it. Although we can take time to draw schematics, it's
more time effective to take a photo showing the board wiring, which
may be a concept exploited more often in future issues.

Small articles, idea sections, are still available so send out your thoughts
and projects. As we do PBASIC programming and try out different
commands, useful expressions are found and will be collected as
examples for future projects. Ideas, tips and techniques will continue
and every effort will be made to build up new code for many new
    functions.

If it's interesting and unusual, we'll be sure to include it. Again, the
focus is on low cost and relatively simple projects, but ones that
maybe you never thought about in the light that they're presented.
It's hoped that PT will mainstream a front for school projects and
educators, yet provide a bonanza treasure for the Basic Stamp
    hobbyist.

Work is progressing on PT3. There are so many new projects
that it will be challenging to fit as many as possible into the
pages. We've developed several new inventions for robots
which are immensely useful and will provide the full details.
PBASIC code experiments continue and the results will be shared.
We're using a new drawing program and will share that too.
In working on projects, there's interesting discovery and
spin off technology. You'll see more and more, as each issue
of Penguin Tech is published. Thanks for staying tuned in.
