Forum Stats Update?

Please update with any solutions to the following:

* The attachment pics do not show up as complete in the postings
* The links do not work in the postings

How can a link to a posting in the old forum be changed so it works? Will this be changed in the near future? All the links in my previous signature do not work. Is there a way to modify those to make working links? Or should they be left alone and wait for some forum changes?

    Hi Humanoid.
On the attachments ---> Them will not function before it is any people in Parallax that read my post's-Understand them-And change setings in new Forum.
    Links is another problem.
BUT to have links to old Forum it is not BIG problem --> Istead of forums.parallax.com --- USE forums.parallaxinc.com

Humanoido: "How can a link to a posting in the old forum be changed so it works?"

As Sapieha says "instead of forum.parallax.com --- USE forum.parallaxinc.com".

BUT this cannot be a good idea.

It has been stated that forum.parallaxinc.com will only be kept on line until the end of 2010. That means that if you change all your old postings to link to the old forum they will all be broken again next year.

So perhaps it's better not to change anything just now and hope that this new forum gets set up correctly out soon.

Heater is right. Don't try to edit your old posts in the new forum. They will just get overwritten, unless we check the "last edit" date and don't repair those posts. But I would not count on that happening. Also, if you change any attachments, you will just have to change them again, because the repaired posts will point to the originals.

Patience is the watchword here, Humanoido. Most of these issues will get fixed.

Thank you very much for your replies, Phil & Heater. I will immediately stop editing those posts. How long should I wait? I could work on something else for the allotted time period and come back later to post.

We're going as fast as we can while avoiding further mistakes. No one wants to do this a third time.

While migrating the updated posts, we could check edit dates but that is just one more detail that we need to account for during the update. It would be helpful to keep the number of variables as small as possible when the posts are re-migrated.

We are going to test the edit date on the attachments before reposting from the old site. There are a number of attachments that have already been corrected. We certainly don't want to clobber the updated attachments.
