I don't worry about complex processor type simulation but for anything analog and digital logic I use the free and well supported LTSpice as there is even a Yahoo group for it. www.linear.com/designtools/software/ltspice.jsp
It's not crippled or anything and even though it's Windows based I have no problem with it running under Wine in Linux.
