Bluetooth with the SX

Hey all,

Was wondering if anyone has played around with the Bluetooth modules sold by sparkfun www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=148 with the SX?
I'm planning to buy one when the newer/replacement version is in stock www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8461.

It looks like its TTL, so i should be able to hook it directly to the SX and start sending serial unless I'm missing something?

I like to build little robots, and its hard to see which LED is flashing or read a tiny LCD display when its bumping about in some unexpected manner for reasons beyond me :D
Be so cool to have a real time display to a laptop with:

Reversing and turning randomly (left) because: Left IR detection, Right IR detection
Reversing and turning left again because:Left IR detection, Right IR detection
Moving forward because: No IR detection
Reversing and turning left because: Right IR detection

Course if i got fancy enough i suppose i could even enable control and input values to variables like motor delays and PWM values (mmmmmm).

I haven't used the modules from Sparkfun but I have worked with a different one that seems to be more flexible and a better value:

    http://www.a7eng.com/products/embeddedblue/serial/eb501-SER.htm

The antenna adds a little cost but depending upon where you get it from these can be less expensive than the Sparkfun module.

A huge plus for the A7 modules is that they have a standard serial interface as well as both 3.3V and 5V logic level serial connections. It is the same chipset that Parallax uses in their Bluetooth Appmod.

The A7 modules are easy to use and work very well. I used one for my BOB project in SERVO magazine and also with some older 8031 based controller boards.

You can connect the logic level signals directly to the SX processor. Once you pair up this A7 module with your PC bluetooth adapter it looks like another serial port on the PC. From there everything is transparent.

I am going to continue using the A7 modules for other projects and would definitely recommend them!

I have been using the roving networks Bluetooth modules from sparkfun for quite sometime these have some cool low power modes that the mitsumi device doesn't support, also sparkfun I believe is doing away with the mitsumi part. the RN-41 is a great device and its so small.
