Running BOE off of PC power supply

  That's not a problem...it's within specification. I run my PDB and BOE off of a ATX power supply's 12V rail.

  I wouldn't connect that if I were you...

  just to be safe i would get a 5 volt regulator the LM7805 from Radioshack and run the supply through that first. if anything DOES fry i want it to be the 1.79 Regulator instead of my 80 dollar Boe

  The BOE already HAS an 'on-board' voltage regulator, the 3840-5. It's hard to fry, and simple to replace if you know how to solder.

  The problem with computer power supplies is that many are extremely noisy.· This can result in some circuits and/or programs exhibiting weird symptoms which you may not attribute to the power supply, but could very well be related.· This can cause countless hours of hair pulling.·
