Published Propeller 2 power consumption characteristics?
in Propeller 2
I can't find them. ![]()
I looked in the P2 Data Sheet under DC and AC characteristics.
I can take a clue from the large-wattage adapters used with the P2 eval boards, but I am guessing that power rating is meant to include a lot of peripherals.
Please and thank you.

Guess it's complicated because it depends on the chip frequency, how many cogs are running, and what the I/O pins are doing...
There is some info around here on that though...
maybe searching with "site:forums.parallax.com power consumption versus frequency" or something like that will find it...
One thing that uses all the cogs, runs way overclocked, and uses many I/O is the @Wuerfel_21 emulators.
But, even these can run with just the regular USB 5V with 500mA limit power.
With overclocking, it can be pushed to extremes for sure. I've managed to exceed 5 Watts on just the 1.8 Volt supply alone. The 2.5 Amp regulator was running overloaded even. And that didn't even include overvolting. But normally it probably won't be more than 1 Watt.
PS: It wasn't a real world use. I did it purely as a maximum load case. The Prop2 overheated in a couple of seconds.
PPS: Ada's game emulators, also overclocked, are more realistic maximums.
