The prop could function normal and you still could have a bad pin, making you think you have a program glitch. I wouldn't want to sloppy breadboard using $35 flip modules. On my boards if I blow a pin I just swap out a $7 dip40. It happens ounce in a while if a loose jumper touches the 5V. Blown about 2 in the last several years.
