Rev. C Chip on Rev. B Development Board? — Parallax Forums

Rev. C Chip on Rev. B Development Board?

I'm pretty sure we have one of the 90 chip trays heading our way.
I'd like to validate software with the Rev. C chip before building our own PCB.
Is there any reason a Rev. C chip won't work on a Rev. B Development board?

I'm planning on carefully removing the Rev. B chip and replace it with one of our Rev. C chips. I'd use ChipQuik to minimize the danger to the PCB.

Am I missing some reason why this would be a bad idea?

I don't think you are missing anything. The changes to the die were nearly insignificant and for A/D improved performance.

Yep, fine to do. Only change is paired pinB to ADC is cut to eliminate small cross-talk-like interference on the ADC.
  • Indeed. No problem to make the swap.

Our design will be using the ADCs on the P2. The Rev. B would like work fine but I'm not positive the cross-talk issue won't be a problem for our application.

I'm not sure I'll swap the chip but it's good to know this is an option.

    Thanks everyone.
