Just saw this, never heard of it previously. Hopefully they are not promoting anything seedy...

So what do we have planned? Less than a week to get our act together!

    Love thy robot as thyself...?

Any big plans, anyone? Barely 19 shopping days left to surprise your robot with a shiny new bumper or laser PING!
  • I am working on the software for my latest robot. If I am lucky, I will have enough written by Feb 7th for it to experience its first controlled movement
  • I love my robots too and I'm very happy because through them I have met all this wonderful Parallax community with supportive and kind people full of knowledge!
I'm every day trying to transfer that what happens here on my students and I'm trying to teach them how to work together and help each other through robotics.

Inter-robot love is fair game too, IMO. For example, the robot couple on this Dollar Tree shopping bag, and the Marx Father & Son robot toy, a pair I still need for my toy collection. What a fine Father's Day gift that would make! https://www.ebay.com/itm/233454897512

My favorite robot was my first robot, the BOE-Bot Stamp kit and that big spiral bound book.

Johnny 5 is a close second. NY CNC is doing a Johnny 5 build on youtube. Here's a playlist - www.youtube.com/watch?v=wABGEVj47Cw&list=PL9tn9rGywKUVZPACsIfAitnYz0qip98Hl

My robots are boxed up in storage because I'm constantly travelling. I might be unloading some stuff next month. It has been far too long since the last time I smelled magic smoke : ( I miss the mecha side of things. I've been building a lot of data loggers lately, those count as robots, right?

NLYR Day is this Sunday, also Superbowl Sunday. There are virtual running races that day, for both events! You can sign up to "Love Your Robot" while running anywhere from 1-26 miles, and win a lovely victory medal for finishing it!

Just in time for National Love Your Robot Day on Feb 7! Spotted at Dollar Tree today: two different sizes of giant Easter Eggs, which could well be the start of a robot body. There's a 12" for $3 and 15" for $5, both have flat bottoms suitable for mounting to a rolling chassis IMO. I got the smaller 12" one, the bottom is 5" in diameter. I saw 4 different colors: blue and gold metallic and IIRC plain red and green plastic. They split top & bottom so there's easy access to the internals. My golden egg is kinda giving me C3PO/R2D2 vibes. Whit? Anybody wanna man up?
