OBEX reCAPTCHA server problem

I'm getting the following message at the top of many pages on obex.parallax.com when I'm logged in. I can use the website, but it's really slow and there's this message.
Unable to connect with the reCAPTCHA server (www.google.com): 0: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known

    I'm running 64 bit Gentoo Linux on a Macbook 4,1 (2009?), and am using Firefox 38.0, which is the latest version marked stable in Gentoo's package manager.
    $ uname -a
Linux ${HOSTNAME} 4.1.15-gentoo-r1 #4 SMP Mon Mar 14 13:20:47 EDT 2016 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T8300 @ 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

    My user agent is: 
    Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0
