We just need to accept that some people will have different views on things.

Hmmm, like accepting Rod's view instead of saying he needs a hug or needs to take more Abilify...

Actually, plywood comes from trees. Off limits?

Yes, anything involving living things is off limits if your views don't match mine. Of course, if you share my views it's OK to talk about it. ;)

Before this thread become a political free for all or gets deleted, allow me to clear up some misconceptions. I love turtles, I love animals! As I previously stated, I don't condone or endorse the activity, I just shared it as a Yahoo headline.

My less-than-enthusiastic replies to a certain Forumista have nothing to do with animals, but they speak generally to his nonstop stream of negative comments scattered through the forum. Common courtesy and mama dictate "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all". I encourage you to click on his avatar and check out his recent posts, which are generally snide, dismissive, non-productive and regularly vitreolic. In the last week alone, he has made denegrating remarks about Chip, Parallax, and MIT, and I for one am tired of it. I'd encourage him to contribute more constructive comments. Anyone can complain and tear down, but that's not why people visit these forums.

    'Nuff said.

@ skylight. That tune is catchy. In the US Lawrence Welk sounded like that.
Hey, this really is a great community. It is exceptionally active and filled with a lot of smart people. I enjoy participating in and listening in on great conversations. I like the different personalities that come through writing styles.
When I hear about disasters around the world I think about the forum members in that part of the world that I know about. Ideas that are posted are secondary.
We can't all agree but we have to be considerate. I hope the forum will accept me during those times I don't get it right.

We all are individuals and have our own opinions, it's society that forces rules upon us and sometimes it's hard not to have views that every so often are wide of the mark set by those rules. Comedians tend to get away with it maybe because it's a release of taboo subjects that normally we'd be ashamed or embarassed to admit to talking about and we stifle our emotions?
