Its Christmas...thought I would share a picture!

This picture is the beginnings of a autopilot for my Thunder Tiger 30 v2 Helicopter.
I have an FMA but not happy with the way it works. Will be using an Hitachi 3-axis accel and a new bs2p processor.
It will have data logging, gps and temperature sensors, perhaps a PING module to keep it in the air when it falls below 3 meters
altitude.

Enjoy.

    Jim,
Very nice program I plan to make one of my Helicopters a fly by wire system with a laptop some time soon. What do you plan to use as an altimeter?

Not sure at this point, probably the GPS if the altitude reading are true and do not vary much, or maybe some sort of pressure sensor.

Very nice Jim. I've got a 30 and a 60, and was planning on doing similar things, but with the new parallax 900mhz transiever so I can view what's going on on the ground with the engine temp and such. I like doing aerial photography, so knowing that stuff is getting hot would be a good thing.

its very difficult to use a gps as an altimeter, as they are only accurate to within 3 feet.. or is it meters? either way, you'll end up using something like the ping for error checking once you get low.

    good luck!

Maybe I will have to look for a laser altimeter...hmmm....thats an idea!
