USB Identification Issue

Hi. I am pretty new to the Basis Stamp 2 (with the Board of Education) and am trying to get my device to connect to my laptop for the first time. I get a "No Basic Stamp Found" error, but on COM4, it does not display a Device Type or Version number, but it does say Yes to both Loop Back and Echo. This is a USB connection to my computer (I bought this through the BOE Bot kit). The USB cables are as firmly connected as possible and I have tried downloading the lastest software from the website, but nothing has changed. And I have tried restarting my computer, but that didn't do anything either. Finally, the batteries are fully charged and I have tried to reseat the chip. Does anybody have any ideas? This is kinda frustrating.

Hi,·in the back of my what's a microcontroller? book it says if you get a yes in both columns you may need to change the settings of FIFO buffers. For windows xp:
    Click on Start button
Select control panel, printers and other hardware
in the see also box select system
    select hardware,device manager,ports
enter the com port number noted by the run, identify test
    select port settings, advanced
uncheck the box labled "use FIFO Buffers" then click OK
click OK to close each window as needed to return to the basic stamp editor
try downloading the program once more

    Hope this helps- electromanj

I tried reading some of the other threads before I posted and I saw you mention that in another post. However, I do not see that setting. Attached there is a picture of what my settings boxes look like

Hi, Im running on XP but that screen is different than mine. I unchecked the box when I was having problems and that did'nt cure it. Turned out I had one bad stamp and a bad power supply on the good stamp. Do you have another stamp you can try, or another power supply?

Hm, this is the first stamp that I've bought but I guess I will try different batteries. In the meantime, I guess I will send an email to Parallax support and wait for them to get back to me after the new year
