Stepper Motor unipolar or bipolar driver

Hi all,

I'm trying to use propeller to control at least 3 stepper motors, do any one here has any Idea or suggestion?

    It depends if they are Bipolar or Unipolar. I normally use a ULN2803 to control Unipolar motors and a D293 Double H-Bridge to control Bipolar motors.

    It also depends on the size of the motors. The above two chips should be able to control most smaller steppers. If you're going to want to control larger ones, you will most likley need to drive each coil with a larger device.

    Jon Williams did some articles in Nuts & Volts (I think) last year that showed how to do it with the Prop.

    I have successfully used the L293D (as suggested in the Article) to drive a Stepper Motor that I have ripped out of an Inkjet Printer.

    Thanks alot guys, is the L293D for amplification of the signal for the motor??
