Serial Port on BOT is causing a problem????

I'm using a bluetooth serial adapter on my BOE-BOT or trying to...
Every time I try to identify or send a firmware to it - the adapter(the part plugged into the serial port on the bot) resets.

I've tested all individual components of the issue and they all work as advertised.
I confirmed I could "talk" to the BOE w/a regular serial connection and I've also confirmed the Bluetooth Dongle AND Bluetooth serial port adapter work with other stuff fine.
I've confirmed the Baudrate/Bits/Parity/Stopbit settings are good.
There is something different about the BOE serial connection that is causing the bluetooth issues.

Oddly - when i send commands from a VB app I wrote - it doesn't reset the bluetooth adapter but the commands don't make it....In fact - i noticed when i did a Hyperterminal loopback that all the commands I sent waited in a buffer and the dumped to the Hyperterminal screen as soon as I connected.

Is there a DB9 pin that the Serial Port adapter might not be dealing with?

I would appreciate any wisdom :)

When you try to "send firmware" do you mean program the BS2? If so the first thing the editor trys to do is reset the chip and that may be what you are seeing.

Yes - thats what I'm doing...I also have just found that when I connect my Garmin GPS(older serial type) and Mapsource tries to ID the GPS connected - it also resets the GBS301(bluetooth adapter).

I'm starting to think it may be a limitation of the adapter - but the sales lit says specifically it's good for using with GPS serial adapters. I find it hard to believe it won't work with Garmin - they are like the #1 GPS seller....

    I think I'm on to something ... http://www.7hertz.com/archives/2006/11/gbs301_serial_bluetooth_adapter.html

I'm testing this solution...I'll post the results...

Ok, here is what I know so far:
If I short pin 7 to 8 AND 2 to 3 THEN establish the connection between my bluetooth dongle and the bluetooth serial port adapter BEFORE plugging the adapter into the serial port - I can send commands to the BS2.
Apparently the GBS301 fully implements the RS-232 spec. as stated in the link above.
