help with a few sensors

we are working on a project for our engineering and design project and we ordered a digital thermometer DS1620 and a water pump. we are having trouble figuring out how to connect both these sensors and make them work for the purpose they are supposed to serve, which will be to find a heat source such as an open flame and put it out.· if anyone knows more about how these sensors connect to the board of education and how to write the programs for how they work, please post. thanks!

it has instructions and sample code.

As far as "finding" the flame, it only senses the temp of the unit (and temp near by). So it won't be able to find the flame just tell you if it's close to the flame or not.
