BS2 Reports "No BASIC Stamps found"

Hi I started getting the following message when trying to upload code to· my BS2: "No BASIC Stamps found". I have checked the 9 volt battery, it reads 8.7 volts. I have tried with the BS2's power switch in "1" and "2" positions. I am using a serial cable. When I run the identify program it seems to be happy enough; it says it is using Com 1.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Uploading puts a longer duration drain on the battery than just an Identify and the battery may be "bottoming out".
Try a fresh battery. There's really very little difference functionally between Identify and Download except that the
    download lasts longer.

    Hi Mike,

I tried a fresh battery and no difference. I still can't access my stamp.

    Bill,

Are you using a direct Serial Port connection? If so try disabling the FIFO Buffers, especially if it is a laptop. Are you using a USB to Serial Adapter? If so, which brand? Not all are compatible with the BASIC Stamps. For our, we have a troubleshooting FAQ on the Driver Download Page which covers the most common issue. Take care.
