hi,

today on saturday i want some working on my propellerChip with a usb-propPlug.
then nothing works.

yesterday i download the programm to the eeprom (a rs232-connection to a laptop, with pin 31,30 (rx,tx)) then i disconnect the usb-cable, then i connected the cable to the
laptop , restart (button) the prop and running this programm.
its running.
1) if i want download my programm

- fault-message: < RAM checksum error on Com10 >

2) with F7 -> identify hardware:

- fault-message: <Propeller chip version 113 found on com10 >

3) a test with the usb-propPlug with an another protoboard == protoPlug OK
download OK

please help me with this troubles

is this a hardware defect (eeprom) or something else.

    Maybe a power problem? Is something loading down Vdd?
    Otherwise, must be something interfering with the tx line...
    Or, perhaps the clock is unstable...
    Don't think the eeprom has anything to do with it...

    Your Prop chip might have faulty RAM, if it is giving a RAM checksum error.

    hi,
    thanks for your answers:
    @rayman:
    1) the power led is ok
    2) i control the usb-propPlug, with other chips its ok
    but i dont unterstand the reason.
    yesterday all running but now ???

    @leon:
    please no, can i repair the chip aka the ram (a new device)??
    but when i want download to eeprom (not ram) the message is the same.

    or i buy a new chip???? :-(

    what mean the second message: <Propeller chip version 113 found on com10>

    i think on monday (working day of the parallax staff) i make a new posting.

    i am verry frustrated but....
    thanks
    regards

    I don't believe there is a Propeller chip version 113.
    There is some kind of communication problem between the PC and the Propeller which
    would account for the incorrect version number and the RAM download checksum error.
    I'm surprised that the identify process got this far. There's a lot of checking that goes
    on before the Propeller sends its version number to the PC.

    1) You may be right about an actual RAM error. Since the RAM is part of the Propeller chip,
    you can't replace it without replacing the Propeller chip itself.

    2) The RAM is not one of the first things to fail when the Propeller chip is damaged due to
    voltage spikes, etc. It seems to be the clock first. The Propeller will successfully identify
    itself and correctly start up, but the PLL won't work. Programs that use the internal clock
    (RCFAST or RCSLOW) work fine (like the boot loader). This is not what you're seeing.

    3) Since another Protoboard works fine with the same PropPlug and Propeller Tool, you
    probably do have a defective board or defective chip. I'm sure Parallax will send you a
    new board and may want to get the defective one to see what happened.
