Hi..

Just wondering if there is a way of connecting a secondary led to the SM green led showing that a blue tooth connection is active?· The idea being if I enclose the EB500 within a case for the bot, I will not see that the led is lit.· Thus, I would like to wire an extension of this signal·to an led mounted in site on the case.·

    Hi folks,

This is the reply I received from a7 engineering...

The easiest way to do this is actually to use an eb501-SER rather than an eb500-SER. The eb501-SER has the STATUS line brought out to a header for easy connectivity. Here is a link for your reference http://www.a7eng.com/products/embeddedblue/serial/eb501-SER.htm.

If you want to get access to this line on the eb500-SER you will need to solder a wire onto the onboard eb100-SER module. Specifically you should attach a wire to the STATUS line, pin 26 and connect it and ground to your LED. You do need to make sure not to draw more than about 5ma from this line though since there is already another LED on it. The eb100-SER can only drive about 8mA on one line safely.

Alternatively you could remove the LED that is on the eb500 and solder wires to the pads that it was on. This would give you the full 8mA to work with for your external LED.
