    · I have played around with this chip. (I have some self-made protoboards if anyone is interested).

    · It IS a cool chip, but the power requirements are terrible (100mA @ 5V), and it is quite expensive ($12-$17) each.

For that price, you'd think it would include genlocking to the color burst so it could generate multicolor characters. But no: it's just grayscale.

    Phil,
    · I hear rumors that they are working on a color version.

    · It would also be nice if it allowed bit-mapped graphics, but it is only text based (although to CAN redefine the character set).

P.S. Phil, this is the chip that required the 15pF cap on the SClk line.

Bean, I'd be interested in purchasing a couple-few of your breakout boards. How do we go about this?

    David,
For an empty PCB + RCA jacks for $6.00+shipping. You'll need the chip and some 0805 parts.

The chips I have are samples, so I don't feel it's ethical to "sell" them. Otherwise I'd offer I populated board too.

If anyone wants to purchase your own from ExpressPCB I have attached the file.

P.S. This should really be in the "SandBox" forum...

Hi Bean, Why not put the boards up for sale on your site then release a message in sandbox offering them up. I can pay by PayPal. Can you can send by regular mail overseas. These should fit in fairly small envelope even with the RCA jacks. I'm in Jakarta. What would the mail costs be for, say two or three boards to Jakarta?

    Regards,

    David,
    · Sorry I can't ship outside the US.
··I would suggest you order them from ExpressPCB yourself.

OK Bean, I have a solution now; you can ship to my US address. It would be simplest for me to pay by PayPal.

I sent you a message via the form on your Web page.

I've had several inquires about these boards.
I forgot to mention that I will include the 27MHz crystal too.
Also, these are prototype PCBs (no solder mask).
