Help with checking for continuity using a BS2

I am very new to the electronic side of this, but have a good background in programming, so any help with the circuit design would be greatly appreciated. What I want to do is put a BS2 between another device that already performs continuity checking with a target. I do not want to interfere or slow down the other device responses.

What I have is 3 wires. Two go to ground and the other carries·+5 Volts (I think). They switch back and forth within 10 - 100ms and I want to capture how many times it swtiches "without interfering" with the other device.

Don't put the stamp "between" the two . put it "alongside" reading the states of the wires. Don't forget to isolate the stamp pins from the wires using some form of device. Good luck.
