I just ordered the Hydra, it should arrive by the end of this week. Can't wait to check it out.

I don't want to get too ahead of myself before I've even gotten a pixel to show up, but I'm hoping to turn out a few board game projects like Othello and the likes with an emphasis on challenging AI.

Welcome to the Forums. Glad to see you around here, and wishing more Hydra users would come as well.

Not to rain on your parade, but Othello is actually included with the Hydra book, with AI and all. But AI coding is a fun thing to do, though I'll admit I've never tried it before. You basically as I understand it have to out think yourself.

Good AI rests on having a fast way of searching through a game tree and a nice evaluation function. Othello AI happen to be pretty easy to create because many of the strategies of the game are straightforward. I've also got a few other games up my sleeve too:
