The Datalogger

Has any one used the datalogger to plug into a pc's USB port to write directly to the pc's hard drive (via a USB extender cable)? Can this be done? I'm looking to find a way to collect data and not have to sneaker-net the flash stick to the computer.

Thanks.

According to the Vinculum Firmware User Manual chapter 5.6.3
only the VDPS firmware allows the datalogger to be connected
to a pc host usb port. The datalogger has VDAP firmware.
You can of course write data to hyperterminal or other terminal software
using serout commands. Terminal software can usually log incoming data to a file.

Note that the firmware Peter mentioned will only provide you will a serial connection to the PC. There is no way the Vinculum Chip in and of itself can provide you with a direct way to write to a PC Hard Drive. You would need an application running on the PC that communicates serially and that application would write to the HD. Take care.
